Escape Ch.11

Fiction Created on 2-21-08 Views(90) Story Rating G

Timbrels and drums, tambourines and dance. The flute and harp. The cithara and singers of Athens. Young girls danced around the courtyard, some throwing flower petals. Tirzah danced in the center of it all, her voice a angelic as ever. All the guests gazed upon the young bride, her curls long and flowing, her porcelain skin glowing. She wore gold bracelets and anklets, rings on every finger. She had chains of gold and a nose ring, she shined in the sun light. She wore a crown of golden laurel leaves that Azriel gave to her as their wedding gift. Azriel sat on the cedar chair the carpentar given him, dressed in white. He looked upon Tirzah, his bride. He smiled. It was the third day of celebration, they would finally be fully married that night.

He came to a smirk as he thought of how he explained to the priest how they were never married and he had wanted to marry her there in Greece and how her parents were far away. He had all the support of the townspeople, they even brought them gifts. They had a most untraditional wedding, but beautiful nonetheless.

"Azriel!! My love!", she called, Azriel joining her in the dance. The townspeople sang and clapped, throwing white flower petals at their feet. Azriel lifted her in the air as the song ended, spinning her around and bringing her to a kiss. Everyone clapped and began to sing again, the cooks bringing out the food. Azriel took her by the hand and they sat down at the table to eat. At sundown the people began to leave, wishing them luck and prosperity. The servants cleaning up the house. The girls who had danced with Tirzah earlier were now in the house, preparing the bedroom. Tirzah sat beside Azriel, smiling. He was gazing into her eyes, he was lost in them. She smiled as he held her hand, playing with the rings on her fingers.

"You look like a goddess."

"No...."

"I bet none of the Greeks in all of history have beheld the sight I see now."

"Azriel, you play too much."

He shook his head and smiled, kissing her. They laughed as the girls came giggling outside again, bowing before Tirzah.

"It is ready, my lady.", said the tallest girl. Tirzah blushed, letting the girl take her by the hand, the rest of them giggling. Tirzah walked into the room, dressing into a simpler white dress. She felt the butterflies rise inside her...I am so afraid...She sat at the edge of the bed, twirling the gold chains around her neck with her fingers.

Azriel took a last sip of the drink in his hand, getting up to go inside. He shook his head and looked towards the fountain.

"Azriel my son, what joy to see you marry such a fine bride..."

"Julius..I know what you are here for but please. One last wish as a brother, let me have my wedding night. Let us enjoy the time together we have."

Julius looked at Azriel, how much he had changed since he left Jerusalem. Julius bowed.

"I shall grant you this last request. As your...death wish. Prosperity and love my brother."

Julius dissapeared into the darkness. Tirzah came running out, Azriel turning to find her holding a blade.

"I heard someone....Azriel..."

"It is alright. Come now, it is our wedding night. There is no need for violence."

He smiled, taking the blade and putting it on the table as they walked inside. He had her go ahead, he looked around the house. No one. Julius had kept his word. Azriel bolted the doors, looked back and entered the bedroom. He closed the door behind him, bolting it as well. Tirzah was combing her hair, smiling. He started to undress, Tirzah blushing as he came to her and knelt down at her feet. He removed her sandals and kissed her feet. He took the crown off of her head and put it on the table, kissing her forehead. He took the comb from her hand and put it down, taking her hands into his. He kissed them, looking into her eyes. He took her into his arms and lifted her up, carrying her to the bed. She laughed softly as he caressed her body, slowly removing the dress she wore. He looked into her eyes, kissing her once more. He was tender with his touch and cautious, kissing the tears that fell from her eyes as he went in. He looked into her eyes and smiled and in a terrible accent said softly, "Eime eroteumenos me 'sena*".

She smiled,"Eime eroteumeni me 'sena."
