After Emerie cried for a while, she rested on the couch, Angel calling Gabriel. She asked him if he could get a ride with Hector, she wanted to stay with Emerie. Emerie fell asleep on the couch, Angel covering her with the quilt. Angel changed into her night gown, sitting at the dining table. She couldn't believe Alex, after everything he would do it again. She felt relief when Gabriel walked in, a concerned look on his face.

He rushed to Angel, holding her close.

"Are you ok? Did he....", he whispered. They spoke low so they wouldn't wake her up.

"No, I walked in right when he was about to take her pants off.....She's terrified. So when she wakes up, be careful when you get close. She might freak.."

"I know. Just dag...Do her parents know?"

"No, no she almost died when I dropped her home. So I brought her here. Till Sunday. Actually I'd prefer she stay her until that bruise dies down."

They walked into their bed room, Angel leaving the door slightly open to check on her. Gabriel went into the bathroom to change, Angel placing clothes on the table next to the couch for Emerie. Gabriel laid down in bed, Angel slipping in bed beside him. He cradled her in his arms, Angel was thinking too much.

"Oh Lord that brought me back. The look on her face, everything. It was like I was seeing it happen all over again. It was...I hit him so hard....I wanted to kill him. Honestly. He disgusts me....."

"Baby, it'll be ok. You saved her. You prevented something terrible from happening. You should be proud of yourself. I am..."

He kissed her forehead and held her close as they fell asleep.

Emerie opened her eyes to the rays of sun that came through the blinds. She sat up quickly, regretting it because she got a headache. She looked around her surroundings, a calm voice singing from somewhere right of her. She smelled pancakes and she smiled. As she stood up she felt as if someone had hit her hard in the head and her thighs hurt. She walked slowly,  walking to the open door to her left. She was surprised to see Angel sitting down on the bed, the Bible open but Angel seemed lost in her thoughts.

"Angel?...", she said quietly. Angel looked up and smiled. She got up and hugged her. Emerie then felt her heart beat fast, the memory of the night before flooding her mind. She all of a sudden felt sick and she looked at Angel with fear in her eyes. Angel sat her down and handed her the cold glass of water she hadn't touched.

"You ok?..", Angel brushed Emerie's hair out of her face. She traced Emerie's cheek with her fingers,"It's better....I'll give you some aspirin after someone decides to stop hogging the water!!", she yelled playfully, Gabriel's laughed from the bathroom. Emerie's heart sunk when she heard him, she felt embrarrassed.

"Angel....He didn't...He didn't.."

"No..", she said, stroking Emerie's hair,"Alex got caught before he could do any more harm. I'm so sorry...I wish I could have gotten there faster..."

"No, it's my fault. I got drunk and stupid. After I realized what I was getting myself into I had to call you."

Gabriel walked in, his hair wet. He waved at Emerie and she smiled weakly. Angel led Emerie to the bathroom and gave her a new toothbrush.

"Remember, take your time..."

Emerie nodded and went into the bathroom. Angel checked on the breakfast. She walked back to the room, Gabriel was putting his deodorant on. She sighed and sat down on the bed.

"I hid all the razors ma...Trust me, I didn't forget."

He smiled and kissed her, going to the kitchen to eat. Angel joined him, smiling as Emerie walked out of the bathroom in her towel, her hair dripping wet. She hurried over to the clothes on the table and rushed back into the bathroom. Angel sighed..Lord, she was looking for the razors wasn't she?.....Help me please.....

Emerie came out dressed and had towel dried her hair. Angel asked her to sit down, Emerie doing what she was told. Angel served her breakfast, Emerie eating fast. Gabriel watched her and then looked at Angel. Angel was deep in thought, Emerie seemed to be her biggest concern. He kissed Angel goodbye and walked out, grabbing the keys to the car. He said he was going to help Hector with something for tonight. Angel did the dishes as Emerie called her parents and said she was ok, she would be home by Sunday. Angel sat down on the couch, Emerie next to her.

"Do you think he'll come after me?"

"No...he's too much of a coward. Besides, Gabriel will scare him off...."

"Gabriel must think I'm stupid huh?"

"No, Gabriel thinks no girl deserves that, no matter what."

"Do you think I was stupid?"

"No, you were lonely and hurt. You looked to Alex to gve you something that I once thought he had. He took advantage of our need. You thought he was a friend, like I thought he loved me. I think he did, at some point. But he's twisted. Real messed up...But you and me, we're stronger then him. He can't hurt us as long as we see the power within ourselves. God gives us that strength to overcome anything."

"Thanks for hiding the razors.....How'd you know?"

Angel smiled as Emerie looked at her with a sly smile.

"Girl, I cut myself as soon as I got home that night. I wasn't going to let you do the same."

Angel lifted her nigth gown to show a thin scar across her thigh. She showed Emerie the scars on her wrist.

"Nothing in this world is worth taking your life. God didn't let me push it in all the way, I know that now. He is my escape, my refuge. I know you were raised in church and all but, get closer to God Em....I want so much for you to see that He is all the escape and love you could ever need. And in time, He'll give you a guy that will love you more then you could ever imagine."

Emerie was crying now, holding onto Angel. Angel cried along with Emerie....Lord thankyou...Help her...I don't know what more to say or do but I know you'll be there....
