Lauren smiled and winked at her cousin Laila as she exited the dining room to go upstairs to quiet the crying Lainey. Her mom had told her to turn the baby monitor off so it wouldn't disturb their meal and Lauren just nodded. This is going better than I thought It would... As Laila exited behind her, Lauren began to jog upstairs quickly. She calmed Lainey quickly, putting her back into her crib gently. Laila and Lauren grabbed the biggest duffel bag they could find and started to shove Lainey's belongings in it. Lauren grabbed a backpack and put bottles and diapers and a couple extra sets of clothes for the train. While Laila finished stuffing, Lauren snuck into her old room, which had been converted into a spare room. Lauren knew right where they kept their cash. She looked around quickly, typed the password into the number pad and opened the safe, grabbing a wad of 20's. Thats about 200 bucks. We should be ok with that for now. Landon's gonna keep mailing me some cash and a check every so often. Lauren shut the safe door and rolled her eyes. Her parents were so predictable. Landon's birthday was the number password for the safe. Could they possibly make it any easier? As she walked back to Lainey's room, she stopped and bit her lip. How was she gonna get out of the house with Lainey and Laila and the bags? She heard footsteps coming towards the bottom of the staircase. They'd have to wing it for now. Lauren ran quietly into Lainey's room and whispered to Laila. "I don't know how we're gonna get out but we gotta do it quick. People alert." She looked around and the light bulb above her head lit up. She opened the window, shivering slightly. She picked up the bags, throwing them into the shrubs along the empty side of the house. They used this side because their were no windows or doors on that side of the house. She bit her lip and looked around. They heard the knob turn and the door creak open. "Laur? Laila?" She sighed, hearing her brothers voice. "Landon! You scared the hell out of us!" Lauren whispered. "Hey watch the language. Remember you have a kid around you 24/7 now." She rolled her eyes and took a couple breathers before she started speaking again. "How are we gonna get me, Lai, and Lainey out of the house? All at once?" She bit her lip. Landon smiled and whispered to them his thought. Laila and Lauren agreed that that would work. Laila climbed down the side of the house while Lauren grabbed hers and Laila's bags, throwing them into the shrubs too.Laila got down to the bottom, falling slightly. She scrambled to her feet, picking up as many bags as she could, quickly putting them in Lauren's red Jeep Cherokee. Lauren grabbed her black Steve Madden bomber and put it on before she started to bundle Lainey up. She put Lainey in her car seat and grabbed the handle. "Ready Landon?" He smiles and nods, hugging his baby sister quickly. "You can do this ok?" He looks down at her. She nods and forces a small smile. She picks up Lainey and walks downstairs, explaining to her parents that Landon and her were taking an earlier Christmas trip down to the lake. They okayed it but questioned the fact that Lainey was going too. Landon spoke up this time. "We wanted to add our newest sister to our sibling tradition." He smiled happily and their parents told them to be safe. Lauren smiled big and walked towards the door. Once they were outside, Lauren laughed. "I cant believe we just pulled that off.." She laughed and hooked Laineys car seat in. She smiled and got in the drivers seat, buckling up and starting the ignition. Laila was in the back with Lainey and Landon in the passengers seat. They drove to the train station and got their bags out of the car. Lauren took Lainey, the backpack and her two bags, while Laila took her two bags and Lainey's duffel bag.  Landon took the car to find the auto train loading dock. Lauren went and bought the tickets for the train, as Landon put her car on the auto train. He came back to Lauren, gave her the cars ticket and the keys. She put them down in her small D&G purse. She hugged Landon one last time. "Take care of her Laur..." He whispered. She whispered back. "I will Lan..I promise.." She smiled and kissed his cheek as he kissed Lainey goodbye. He hugged Laila as they took the luggage and Lauren boarded the train to find a seat. She found 4 seats facing each other and she sat Lainey's seat down across from her, taking her out of it. Lauren cradled her close to her chest, whispering. "Shh..you wont ever have to go back to those big mean parents of yours ever again. Dont worry, I'll take care of you as long as I have to. I promise you that you will never have to go back to that house, no matter what." Lauren kissed Laineys forehead and cradled her close. Laila came down the aisle looking for them. Lauren waved to her. Laila smiled and stuffed the bags in the overhead compartment. She couldnt get the backpack in so she sat it down across from her, next to Laineys seat. Lauren smiled as hugged Laila quickly. " We did it Lai...California here we come!" She smiles and laughs softly as she thinks to herself. Yeah thats if we make it there first...
