Bring Me Back To Life

Bell starred at her reflection in the restroom mirror. Her eyes were bulging red and her skin was pale and clammy. Today was her first day back to school and she couldn’t even make it through a whole day without crying. Everywhere she went and everything she did reminded her of him. A tear came to her eyes as sweet memories of Jason poured into her mind causing her that pulsing, unbearable pain.

Her mom had promised her that moving back to Jersey would help her to forget about Jason. Her dad had promised that the pain would one day go away, but they were wrong. Bell knew that Jason was gone and dead and as long as that remained true she knew that her heart would never heal. She rushed to the restroom stall just as her breakfast lurched out of her throat. She heaved violently into the toilet.

She flushed her mess and stumbled back over to the sink where she rinsed her mouth. ‘’It’s okay Bell.’’ She whispered to herself.

Just then there was a silent knock on the door. ‘’Come in.’’ she said weakly.

A boy with black curls and a dimpled smile walked in and starred at Bell. Bells eyes bulged frantically.

‘’You can’t come in here!’’ she protested.

The boy shrugged. ‘’Why not?’’ he asked.

‘’Because this is the girl’s restroom!’’

The boy smiled. ‘’I just heard someone vomiting up their stomach and I just wanted to check and make sure that that someone was okay.’’

Bell could feel her face flush and her cheeks burn with embarrassment.

‘’Was I that loud?’’ she asked.

‘’You sounded like a donkey choking on potato salad…really gross, but I was the only one that heard. Are you okay?’’

Bell nodded. ‘’Yeah I’m fine.’’

The boy looked at her unconvinced. ‘’You sure don’t look fine.’’ He said.

‘’Geez thanks. A girl loves to know how horrible she looks.’’ Bell said sarcastically.

‘’No…I meant you look ill.’’

Bell could feel her stomach start to lurch again. She had to get out of here.

‘’Look I have to go…and maybe you should get out of the girl’s restroom.’’

The boy smiled. ‘’Um…sure.’’

Bell grabbed her book bag and rushed from the restroom. Her side was aching tremendously and right now all she wanted was the comfort of her bed and the sweet lulls of her dreams.
