The dinner was a silent, akward one. The sound of clinging spoons against emptying bowls was the only sound that filled the enourmous room. Every now and then John would glance side ways at Kelly and she would have her head down, her thoughts embedded deep within her her rampling mind.

She never once looked back at John and even when dinner finally came to a close...she simply got up and left without even a simple goodnight.

''She is a difficult one.'' said Aldred noticing the hurt on John's face after Kelly had disapppeared.

''Yeah she's tought one.'' John said. Aldred grunted.

''May I for-warn you sir?'' Aldred asked. John turned in his seat and looked at Aldred.

''For-warn me about what?'' he asked. Aldred raised a threatening eye brow.

''Mr. Johnathan...John I mean...Kelly is a very sensitive subject i might say. She is the ungodly woman and her soul is tainted by nothing but evil. It would do you best to keep your buisness in your pants and not fall for a girl like her.''

For some reason John felt his anger rise and his ears boiled with confrontation. ''How dare you speak of the Holly's daughter in such a manner.'' John spat.

Aldred released a high pitched laugh. ''If anything the Holly's agree with me. They don't care much for Kelly...that's why they took you in. They believed that a more sutable child would make this family look better. Kelly is an utter disgrace.''

John immediately felt guilt strike him in his side. Did Kelly know that he was suppose to be her replacement? Did she hate him for this?

''This can't be true. Why would any parent want to disown their own child?'' He asked angrily.

Aldred smiled. ''It is not an unusual thing...your parents disowned you.''
