Bell fumbled with the thick cotton cover. Her mother had demanded she stay in bed today, at least she was out of the hospital. It had been two days, and she had not seen or even heard from Jason. She was starting to believe that maybe he didn't want to talk to her and only saved her because it was the human thing to do.

Bell rolled over and looked at her clock. 9 a.m. ''There's no way I'm spending another whole day in bed.'' she muttered. She slowly stood up, pain immediately shot through her left leg and surged up through her chest. She grimaced. ''Maybe just one more day.'' she said.

Bell woke the next morning feeling refreshed. The pain was no longer as severe and she was able to stand and guide herself to the bathroom. She starred at herself in the mirror and chuckled at her pale, weak expression.

Te hot water against her skin seemed to awaken the nerves in her toes and legs. The rest of the pain slowly subsided with the water down the drain.

''Hi Bell.'' Bell turned to see Julie grinning from one ear to the other. ''I heard about your...ditch falling.'' she said. Bell turned back around and pretended to be really interested her chicken salad. ''Look I didn't come to start any trouble or anything, but I have to tell you something.'' Julie voice was now hard and demanding, almost sad.

''What?'' Bell muttered tossing a chicken around on her tray. ''It's Brad.'' His nae nearly made Bell jump out of her skin. She shivered slightly. ''I don't care about him.'' she hissed firmly. ''I just wanted to tell you he has be badly injuried.'' Bell turned to look at Julie, her expression was serious, no traces of joking. ''What happened?'' Bell asked slightly amused. ''He got the crap beat out of him. I heard he lost a lot of blood. I'm surprised that you didn't know all this. He hasn't been at school today.''

Bell thought back to this morning....she hadn't seen Brad.  ''Why are you even telling me this Julie?'' she asked irritated. ''I just thought you'd like to know...seeing that it was Jason that attacked him.''

When Bell walked through the front door she wasn't surprised at all to see a big, tall bearded detective standing in her living room. ''Hi Bell. I'm detective Shane. I don't know if you have heard, but there has been a murder and I think you might be able to help catch the killer.'' Bell dropped her backs. Murder? ''What murder?'' she asked confused.
