[i mixed a some of your ideas and with mine. hope you like it]
Max's hands rested on Tess' sholders as she stared. They were in an elemetany school playground. There were swing sets and slides and everything. Tess broke out into laughter. She didn't mean to, but she couldn't help it. She hadn't been here since she was 11 and it was all so funny to her. Max just looked down at her and smiled. Was he kidding? He seriously took me to a play ground? He's got to be kidding.
Tess shugged his hands off her sholders and turned to look at him, a smile still planted on her face. "Um," she said between giggles. "Why'd you bring me here?" Max's smile just widened. "Its more like, why wouldn't I bring you here," he said, trying to hold his laughter back.
Tess just stared up at him, her eyebrow arched quizically. "Ha, okay, sorry," he said, still laughing a little bit at her reaction. "Well, you see that hill over there?" He pointed somewhere behind Tess. She turned and saw a large hill in the back of the playground. Tess nodded. "Well that," Max continued. "Is why I brought you here."
He smiled at her and began walking toward the hill. Tess just stared after him. He turned and looked at her. "You comming?" he said, a smile still planted on his face. Tess sighed, laughed and started to follow him.
When she caught up to him, he grabbed her hand and turned to walk again. As they made their way to the hill, Max's smile never left his face. Tess giggled a little. "What are you smiling about?" she asked, still grasping his hand. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye. "You," he said. "What, why?" Tess said quickly, practically jogging to keep up with his long stides. "You're funny," he simply said.
Max, sat cross-legged where he was standing and Tess realized they were at the hill. There was few trees around, they were mostly behind them. Tess sat down beside him as he reached behind a near by tree and pulled his guitar case. Tess' heart thumped out of her chest.
She smiled a little at him as he took it out. "You took me hear so I could listin to you play?" she asked. "I listin to you play all the time." He turned to look at her and smiled, again. Does he ever stop smiling? "No," he said looking at the roof of the school. "I brought you here to see that." He pointed toward the roof. Tess turned and saw the sun setting behind the school. The sky was all sorts of pink and red. There was a huge orange, glowing orb hovering above them.
The sun was bigger than Tess had ever seen it. It was so beautiful. Tess immediatly thought of her Max fantasy. Was it about to happen? She thought. She felt her cheeks get hot again.
She saw Max out of the corner of her eye staring at her. When she looked back at him, though, he turned away to stare at the setting sun. He began absent-mindedly playing his guitar, playing random notes that seemed to fit together so well. And he wasn't even looking at his finger board. He was just staring off into the distance. He did this alot in orchestra. But, this was different.
Tess' eyes shifted down to his rapidly moving fingers. She couldn't take her eyes away. It was amazing how he could play so well with no sheet music in front of him. Sure, Tess could memorize music well, but this wasn't even composed by anyone. It was just, randomly played. Tess could sit here and watch him forever.
*****
Max's fingers were racing across the finger board. His eyes started to hurt from staring into the sun for so long. His eyes moved down to Tess, whos gaze was fixed on his fingers, so she didn't noticed him looking at her. She looked so beautiful right now. He light brown hair was shinning in the sunlight and her face was glowing. He couldn't look away.
He accidentally got distracted and stopped playing. Tess looked up at him and noticed he was watching her carefully. He looked over her for a second then averted his eyes back on his finger board, not playing the stings, just fingering. "How do you do that," Tess asked dreamily, like she had just woken up.
Max looked back at her. "Do what," he asked, cracking a small smile. "You were just playing really weird. How did you do that?" Tess seemed amazed now. Max laughed a little bit. "Um, I don't know," he said, reaching up to scratch the back of his head. "It happens sometimes. I just zone out and I can't stop playing." Tess just kept looking at him.
"What?" Max asked, starting to feel uncomfortable with her just staring, not saying anything. She laughed a little bit and looked down at her hands, which were rested on her lap. "I don't know." She lifted her head and looked at the sun. It was nearly completely engulfed by the school.
Max set his guitar down and scooted closer to Tess. He put his arm around her sholders. She leaned up aganst his chest, her head resting on his sholder. Max felt a warmth pulse through his veins. His heart was beating so fast that he figured Tess could hear it.
*****
Tess rested her head on Max's sholder. It felt so comfortable, like she had been with him like this forever. He was so warm. She felt safe and protected again like she had before. She never wanted to leave. But she just had to know.
"Max," she said, lifting her head a little so she could look at him. "Hm?" He said, looking from the sunset down to her. Their eyes met and Tess felt tingley all over. "Um," she started, pulling herself upright and away from him. "I really have to say something, but I'm afraid of what you'll say." Tess looked down, afraid to meet his eyes.
Max reached down and laced one of her hands with his. "Tell me." She sighed and looked up. His eyes were sparkling. Should I tell him? Will he feel the same way? What if he doesn't? She had to stop questioning herself and get it over with. She took a deep breath. "I really like you," she finally choked out. "Like, alot." Her voice was shaky and nervous. She could feel her hands sweating in Max's grasp. She sat there waiting for what Max was going to say.
He looked at her and a huge smile spread across his face. "Really?" he asked, laughing a little. Tess just nodded and tilted her head down so he couldn't see her eyes, which were about to fill with tears. Is he laughing at my patheticness? I shouldn't have said anything. She felt Max's hand lift her chin to face him. His face was really close to hers, all he could see were his beautiful eyes sparkling at her.
*****
Max sat there for a second, looking into Tess' eyes. He wondered if she would mind if he kissed her. He really wanted to. He stared from her beautiful eyes to her full, pink lips, wanting nothing more than to kiss them.
He finally made up his mind and leaned forward a little bit, seeing what her reaction was. Her eyes widened a little then she leaned forward too, closing her eyes so far so all Max could see of them were slits. He leaned forward more and there lips met. Tess' lips were so soft and sweet. They tasted like raspberries.
He kissed her for a long time, pushing her gentaly to the ground. He held himself over her by leaning on his elbow, one hand on her face and the other wrapped around her waist. He moved his hand up her waist, accidentally brushing her breast, and began stroking her hair. Then he pulled away and looked down at her, smiling and looking at her beauty. How'd I get so lucky?
*****
Tess smiled back at him and sat up, kissing him softly one more time and looked at the sky. It was dark already. She was tingling all over now. She reached up and touched her lips, as if checking to see if her lips were real. She didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay her with Max forever. But she knew if she stayed any longer, her mom would call every police station in the state so she could find her.
She looked at Max, who was staring at her with a huge grin on his face. "We should go," she said reluctantly, as she stood up. Max stood up too. "Alright," he said, still smiling. He reached for her hand and they walked back to the car.
