Charmed Life. [4]
|
I was totally right. My day was a disaster. I spent every class that I sat near Alex talking about his percious Cassandra and hearing all of his new poems about her. Some lode of shit about her hair being firery like the sun or something like that. And to top it all off, Alex and I spent a whole hour and a half choosing which one Cassandra liked the best; A Tiffany dimond studded watch or one of those new burnt orange Burkin bags. But surprise, surprise. We didn't get either. Alex decided he would just take her shopping and let her pick something out. A complete waste of my patiance.
When I got home, I was about ready to blow up. I stumped up the stairs as loud as I could and slammed my bedroom door about 4 times, all too let out a little steam that has been building up since that unfortunate incounter with Brandon this morning. I immidiatly stripped my tainted school uniform from my body and ran to my closet. I slipped on a pair of fitted dark wash jeans and a soft cashmere sweater. All my problems seemed to melt away. I calapsed on my bed and stared at my ceiling for a few minutes. Then I heard my ringtone and reality came back. I searched through me bag and fished out my phone. The caller ID said Brooke. But I didn't feel like talking right now, so I ignored it. But as soon as it stopped ringing, it started back up again.
I flipped it open. "Hello?" I knew I sounded annoyed, but who cares?
"Hey, why arn't you here yet?" Brooke ignored my annoyed tone.
"Why arn't I where?"
Brooke sighed. "Duh. Its time to party plan, my dear friend! Don't tell me you forgot," she said in her ditzy, girly voice.
"Shit. Sorry, I'll be over there in 10 minutes," I said. I didn't want to leave the house, but this was Cassandra's birthday party, so I had to help with the preperations.
"'Kay. See ya soon. Lots of love," Brooke exclaimed.
"'Kay, bye." I hung up immidiatly and rushed out the door.
When I got to Brooke's place, there were girls sprawled out over the living room floor with guest lists, phone books and To Do lists under their noses. Brooke saw me and waved me over to My Group of Girls (namely Brooke, Cassandra and Olivia.) We were the only group of people whose opinion mattered. Whenever a decision was made, it was run through us first. I sat down next to Olivia who looked like she was thrilled to be here
"Hey, Maddie! I love, love, love your shirt," she gushed. She has been kissing my ass since the day we met, probibly in hopes that some day she will become my equal. The girl is sweet, but that would never happen in her life. But lets not ruin her dreams. "Thank you. Your boots are ah-dorable," I replyed graciously, even though her boots were hideous. But she bought it. She just giggled and went back to decorating invitations.
"So, what have we got done so far?" I turned and asked Brooke. She handed me a To Do list:
Cassandra's Birthday Party To Do ListGuestlist InvitationsDecorationsPublicityBand
CatererDJ
"Okay, so we still need a band and a decoration committee?" I sighed, "Wow. We have some work to do, don't we? How about those people over there," I pointed at a group of people over in the corner. "They can do the decorations."
Cassandra looked at me. "And whose going to find the band?"
"I'll find one," I said with a confident smile. "'Kay! I am so excited! I wonder what Alex is going to get me," Cassandra said with a wispy look in her eye.
"Hey, I think I'll go start looking now," I said quickly. If she was going to talk about Alex, I am so out. "Alright. Find me a good one," Cassandra yelled after me, sounding all excited.
I didn't really want to go look for a band now. But I had nothing better to do. So why not go and scout for a band worthy of my friends party. Its better than sitting at home feeling sorry for myself.
