Chapter Four: Secrets Reviled

“Sam,” Becky points her index finger to Seth “Who is dat?”

“Dat…That Becks is Seth Hallow.” I say, leaning over and looking at her.

Her blue eyes narrow, “Why is her here? He tries to kill you!”

I pick her up, putting her on my back. “We signed a treaty, the war is over.”

Her arms go around my neck, I gulp. Her wrist was an inch away from my mouth; I can hear her blood flow in her veins.

“Is Lauren and Brent Vampires too?” Seth asks, looking at Becky.

I shake my head, “Brent is, Lauren isn’t”

We walk around and show Seth how he ha been so clueless, It’s quite entertaining.

“Oh, Sam let’s show him your room!” Becky says excitedly in my ear.

I laugh, “Sure, Brent can you tell our troops that their services are no longer needed?”

He nods, turning and walking down the left hallway. I walk to my door and open it. Becky jumps off my back and runs over to my bed, jumping on it. I laugh and go over to my desk, covered in very old things. Like a computer and MP3 players. Seth picks up an Ipod, I faintly hear the song ‘One’ play.

“These,” He puts it back down after shutting it off “Are old songs.”

I smile and looking up at him, ” Oldies but goodies.”

After that he goes over to my wall of weapons.

“I remember that one,” He says pointing to a dagger.

I walk over and stand next to him, “Really now.”

He nods, pulling up his sleeve, showing me a scar that goes from hi wrist to his elbow. “That gave me this.”

I nod, laughing lightly, “Sorry about that.”

He looks at me, “its fine. What do all of you do if you don’t drink blood?”

I smile wickedly, “That’s why Becky and Lauren are here for.” Seth stares at me in shock. I laugh, “Don’t worry, I’m kidding.”

I hear a thud and look over towards my bed. I see Becky fallen off of my bed and starting to cry. I get up and run over to her, I look at her knee. Blood seeping out of it, my eyes widen and my fangs grow sharper. I back away, “Becks, find Lauren to help you with that.”

She nods and limps out of my room, I look at the small crimson drops on my floor. It looks so pure, so appetizing.

“Sam?”

I look over at Seth, “You wolfs have it easy, you know?”

I walk over to my bathroom, grabbing a towel and laying on the ground where the red speckles start. I put my foot on the towel and wipe up all the blood. I open my door, seeing Lauren pass with Becky.

“Here,” I hand her the towel and she nods. I go back over to my bed and sit down, sighing.

“It’s so hard to resist, Damn it all!” I say, looking at the ground. I hear footsteps and see Seth standing next to me.

“You’re lucky! You don’t lust for blood every time someone cuts their finger open! I don’t want to drink blood if it means to change people to this.” I say, running a hand through my hair.

“Well,” Seth sits next to me “I have to say that being a vampire is harder than being a werewolf.”

I nod, “Damn straight!”

“It sounds hard, it must suck.” He says, looking over at me.

He’s right it d- wait! Did mister manners just say suck?

“Yes, I did Sam. I’m 18, not 76.” He says, shaking his head.

Damn him and his mind reading!

He goes to say something else, but I cut him off “Forget it!”

Seth laughs again and I smile and start to laugh also. I look at Seth. I’ve never seen him act like this before. Usually he’s being well mannered aristocrat who only care for himself, but not…he’s different. He’s all nice and sweet. This is so confusing! I’m so use to hating him, but now…aw man!

I stand up, “Well, we better get back to everyone else.”

He stands up, towering over me. “Let’s go.”

We walk out my room, talking about whatever comes up. We enter the main room, seeing Lauren, Becky and Brent sitting at a table.

“You ok Becky?” I ask, looking over to her.

She nods smiling, “Oh, Lauren told me to tell you Romeo and Juliet, right Lauren?”

I glare over at Lauren, “Will you shut up with that?”

Lauren smiles, “Never in a million years.”

“Well,” Seth says “I back to Hallow castle.”

I nod, “All you have to do is go up those stairs and you’ll be at the surface.”

He nods, smiling at us. “Thank you for the tour, it was interesting.”

Becky gets up and runs over to Seth, “You will come back, right?”

Seth looks over at me, “As long as I’m welcomed.”

Becky hugs Seth, who stands there, shocked. Becky lets go, “Bye Seth!”

Seth smiles at her, “Bye.”

Lauren, Brent and I wave as he turns and begins up the stairs.

-_-_-_-_-_-

I lay in bed, awake and alert while thinking about all that has happened today. My head pounds madly, trying to get a certain realization in my thoughts. Why was he so kind, that’s not the Seth Hallow I know, or is it? His Black hair was mess like always…His eyes are still the same shade of icy blue, so what’s the difference now? His voice, the way he acts, the way he walks, the way he talks is all the same…so what makes him so attractive now?

Chapter Five: Common Enemies

“Master Seth, “Dominic speaks “Everything you have requested has been done.”

I nod, “Thank you Dominic.” I yawn, exhaustion washing over me like a wave of the sea.

“Master Seth, you need some sleep.” He walks over and stands in front of my desk.

I did not hear a word h says next, I never even knew that it was in the city the whole time. The whole three years that I have led my army, I never seen Sam look so weak. For the first time I did not see her as my enemy, or as a Vampire. I saw her as a human, weaknesses and faults.

“Master Seth!”

I snap out of my thoughts, “Yes?” I silently sit there and hope he did not notice that I was not listening.

“What are you thinking about?” He asks, leaning against on of the many book cases that line the wall.

I sigh, “About Sam.”

A wicked grin spreads across his face like a forest fire, “What about her?”

Knowing that I have been defeated, I tell him about everything I saw today at the Mileesans. Every detail I told to my assistant and my best friend.

“Today I saw a new side of Sam that I have never known existed.” I saw, leaning on my elbow, my chin in my palm. I look down at some documents as Dominic thinks. I try not to hear his thoughts now, giving him privacy.

“Master Seth,” I look up at him “If I could speak to you without formalities?” I nod, letting him continue. “It sounds like you care for her more than your letting on, right?”

I ponder on what he is saying, is it true?

“Just think about it Seth.” Dominic says, walking out of the study. I sigh, standing up and pushing in my chair. I walk over to the door, flipping the light switch. As I walk down the hallway, I continue to think about what he said. Sam always has been very smart, in the past it was annoying but now…This is just too confusing.

I look at the suites of armor, seeing my reflection shining. I notice one is slightly moved, facing diagonally I walk over to the silver statue, pushing it to the left. There’s a leather bound book, Titles ‘James Hallow’. I pick it up and blow off the layers of dust while pushing the armor back in its place. I open it and begin to read…

-_-_-_-_-_-

The curtains open, sending blinding light upon my face. I squint my eyes, ”Who did that?”

I hear laughter, Dominic. “You have been up all night I’m guessing, eh Master Seth?”

I yawn, “Please, no more calling me master. No more formalities.” I stand up and stretch as my back cracks in various places. “How can you tell I was up all night?” I ask, sitting back down.

Dominic points to my face, “You have dark circles under your eyes, as if you were one of those leaches. What were you reading?”

I tell him how I found this journal that speaks about Demons that are planning to attack us.

“We have to ask the Mileesans for help with this.” I say, walking over to the door.

‘That and you want to see Sam again.’

Dominic thinks, following me.

“It’s not that I want to see Sam again, I just don’t think we can handle them by ourselves.” I was as I walk down the marble floored corridor.

Dominic catches up to me, “No one can have privacy with you around, can they?”

I shake my head, continuing to the city and to the Mileesans.
