Tenuous Memories [Part 1]

Tragedy Created on 7-9-07 Views(185) Story Rating G

I decided to go off my story-ish poem "What A Bloody Tragedy" cuz i got bored&i took a break from my other story. So i would suggest reading that before reading this, it'll make a little more sense. oh! &ima make the story a lil deeper.[: &im having really bad spelling probs with my keyboard today, so i apologize for any mistakes in advance. Enjoy[:

I walk through the doors of Sunnyside Springs with my head down, eyes closed. I never thought I would go to this place ever again, just as my mother did so many times before. Memories flow through my mind, so much pain, suffering, and blood. Oh how I remember that thick, red blood. I guess the crazy genes are passed down from generation to generation. Never thought I would have it though, doctors say I never showed any of the signs. But, I suppose trauma many times over can do that to you. I’ll miss them so much, especially him, but the faster I "get better", the faster I get home and away from so many bad memories.

A short, rather thin looking woman starts to approach me. Alright, just give her a big smile, she won’t notice a thing. I do just that and she smiles her fake smile right back.

“Good morning. Welcome to Sunnyside Springs. I’m Doctor Rowley and I will be giving you the tour this evening. Jason, will you place her bags in Room 17.” A tall, husky man comes and grabs my things, giving me yet another fake smile. If this keeps going, I’ll fit in here just fine.

“Well, shall we start then?” She doesn’t wait for an answer, just starts walking. Two men come up behind me, I suppose to make sure I don’t flee or do anything stupid in any manner.

The hospital is spotless, from top to bottom. Even the bathrooms and the floors clean enough to eat off of. I guess the brochure really was right “an environment to have no more accidents”. This place is almost like a hotel, except with body guards by you twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and you can’t do anything unless you are told to or you ask.

Jail would be more pleasant than this place, at least they have time to be outside. You have to be a level four to do that. Oh yes, they have a quite a system here. You start off as a level one and as you progress, you get to level seven. Level ones go to group meetings, have meetings with the doctor, and that’s about it. Level twos get to go to school on top of that. Level three you get a little more respect and get some “approved” entertainment in the recreation room. Level four you get to have a stroll outside every so often. Level five you get to leave the hospital for family visits. Level six you can have outings with fellow patients or friends with supervision of course. And level seven consists of living one week in the deep, green forests of Washington State. If you pass this level you’re out of the hospital and you may live your life your way. That’s my goal, I want to get to level seven as fast as I can before my mind is too screwed up from this place.

I get to my room, escorted by only Jason this time. We both go into Room 17, my room and close the door. My room consists of a bed, a dresser, and a desk, all in the colors blue and white. Oh, how original. I look around, but I can’t find my things anywhere. The only I find, is a white shirt and blue trousers on my bed.

“I’ve already put away all your bags and its contents. Some were against the rules, so they had to be confiscated.” He clarified in a droned tone.

All I could think was you went through my things? I guess invasion of privacy doesn’t apply here.

I hear a bell outside my door, must mean something. “You need to change into the clothes there,” again with that drone voice, that is getting really annoying, “and your dinner will be brought to your room shortly.” I turn to my bed and turn back, but he’s already gone.

After finishing my somewhat edible meal I lie down on my bed and stare at the ceiling for what seems like hours. People’s voices come into my head, making me feel this heaviness. “Tomorrow you’ll meet some of your fellow guests...” “...I believe you’ll make good progress here Ailia...you won’t end up like your mother.” I roll over to my side, hoping that tomorrow will be a better day.
