Chapter 2: Sheriff Officers
Kaz was sitting on the withing bench next to Lex in the police office. She didnt say a word. Neither did Lex, not untile to the officer came in and called Kaz in to his office. "Careful Kaz." said Nick as he walked by her. Kaz go up and walked into the office and Nick toke a seat next to Lex where Kaz was sitting.
"SO?" said Cam out of curiosity.
"So what?" said Nick
"What is gonna happen tp us?" asked Lex
"Most likely house arrest untile the merdurer is found or we're not found gulity of killing the guy." replyed Nick
"My mom is gonna chain me up for being over here. Theres no need for house arrest when my mom brakes out the chains." said Lex
"Another year of probation for me. Thats all I need." said Cam
"I was just kidding. Jeez. They probley will keep an eye on us cuz we found the body and they probley think we're witnesess." said Nick.
"True. That means no fun week-ends any more untile the killer is found." said Cam
"Yep."
"What are they gonna do with the money?" asked Lex.
"Turn it in most likely." said Nick.
"What do you think what kind of questions they're asken Kaz?" asked Cam
"Donno. She'll probley teel us when she gets out." said Lex. There was a silence. They all exchanged expressions. The same thing was going though their minds. What happens next?
After a while Kaz came out. She sat down on the floor on the opposite side of the waiting room. Lex, Nick, and Cam starred at her. Waiting for an answere like little kids wanting to know a secret.
"Stop starren at me." said Kaz. Nick and Cam just looked at each other. Lex walked over to her and sat nexted to her.
"You alright?" she asked.
"...I've had better." replyed Kaz
"What did they ask you?"
"Just some random questions."
"Like?"
"Whos your pearents and where do you live? How old are you? Whats your full name? Stuff like that."
"Any thing about the dead dude?" asked Cam
"No, we'll be interigated tomarrow... Just what I need. People going through my room. Do you know how many knives I have stashed away in there? They'll tear my room apart if they find one!"
"They'll send me and you off to CPS. And do you know how many knives I have stashed in my room? TOO MANY! We need to do something before we get in bigger trouble." said Nick
"Like what? Run away?" said Lex. "We're only two thirteen year olds a fifteen year old and a seventeen year old. What are we gonna do?"
"Fix this probley and clean up the mess." said Nick
"Thats eay for you to say. Your the oldest and they will listen to what you say. They think we're a bunch of ingnorent children that needs to be locked up." said Cam.
"Well Cam does have a point. For once." said Lex.
"That aint always true. My mom trust Kaz more than me and I'm the oldest. She believes her more than me.." said Nick
"Like my mom sticks up for Courtney and not me." said Lex.
"Exacctally! We just have to get the ones our pearents believe the most to tell them the truth."
"Courtney wont do squat for me. She thinks shes the ruler of the house." said Lex
"I could probley get Katliyn to talk to my dad. Thats if I have any thing she wants..." said Cam. It got quiet again. The State Farms commercial was on the muted T.V. The door to the sheriff's department opened and the room filled with sobing, shouting, and yelling with Nick and Kaz's pearent, Lex's mom, and Cam's pearents.
"What happened here? Is evey thing alright?" Kaz's mom was hugging her and Nick.
"Thank god you're okay" said Cam's mom. His dad got a hold of him and gave him a nugy.
"I'll talk to you whan we get home." said Lex's mom."Your father will talk to you."
"I dont call him dad do i?" said Lex. Her mom gave a nasty look. "What? He aint my father."
"Tanyia. Give your kid a brake." said Cam's mom.
"She wasnt expossed to be over any way so shes in big trouble." she whispered in Lex's ear "your putten me on the spot."
"Your welcome mom. "said Lex." Thanks for careing." Lex and her mom walked outside and got into their car and drove off. Cam left with his family in their car. Kaz got into her dad's work truck with NIck right behind her. They pulled out of the drive way and left.
As Kaz's dad pulled up into the drive way his cell phone goes off. He answeres it.
"Hello?"
"Mr.Daniels? Kaz and Nick will need to stay in to sheriffs department tonight for safty reasons."
"Is it bad? Do I need to worry?" he asked.
"No, we just need them for the night."
"Okay. Be there in about two minutes." he hung up. Kaz and Nick looked at him. "They want you there for the night."
"What?" they said at the same time. "Over night? asked Nick
"Yeah, I dont know if they is a killer on the lose of what."
"Nice one. Now Im gonna be parinoid." said Kaz
"I was just just joken"They pulled out of the drive way and went back donw the sreet. Kaz was looking out the window when she saw a man walking. He was wearing a black jacket with the hood pulled up. She starred at him untile he was out of site.
