The Blink of an Eye Pt. 9
|
"You should not have done that," Lysander stated quietly, "you should not have come back," he added after a moment.
"We've known eachother a long time. You know I stay true to my word Lysander." Josef's mouth was grim, but his eyes were glowing, ready for the kill. Arden could hardly believe her eyes as Lysander pulled out a short sword or long knife, whichever you prefer to call it. Where had he hidden that? After a blur of motion Arden discovered that Josef had blocked whatever attack Lysander had tried. Neither backed away, they simply watched eachother then, Lysander nodded sharply and James appeared. Arden squeezed her eyes shut as tightly as she could, but still heard Josef's shocked gasp and a soft thump. Slowly she opened them, too curious to resist. Josef was on his knees, Lysander holding him up. "Thank you old friend, thank you..." Josef murmured. Arden crawled closer, unable to belive her ears. Lysander swallowed roughly and nodded. Josef murmured something more, but Arden couldn't hear it, apparently Lysander couldn't either.
"What?" he questioned softly.
"I'm sorry, so...sorry," Josef gasped, struggling to breathe. Lysander nodded once again and then jerked. A slow gurgling laugh began, it grew to a full cackle, then, Josef died laughing.
"Lysander, are you okay?" He looked at her sadly, and made no reply.
