The Blink of an Eye Pt. 4
|
It was only a few minutes before someone else entered, somone she did not know, with eyes colder than those of Lysander, somehow.
"You're still here," he commented, he seemed angry about the fact, perhaps he was an ally.
"Not by my choice I assure you," Arden replied, carefully.
"Let me rephrase that, I meant you're still alive. The ungrateful ass, I go to all the trouble of getting you and he won't even kill you. Noooo, that wouldn't be moral," he snarled at her.
"You enjoy killing innocent people?" Arden gasped, horrified. There was a blur of motion and Arden's cheek atung fiercely, he'd slapped her. "Do not speak unless spoken to you little harlott," he ordered grasping her chin in a grip, so tight that she was sure her jaw would fracture under the pressure. Her eyes were so wide that she saw in great detail how this man's eyes now glowed, with pleasure, simply because of her pain. He was one twisted puppy, but she wasn't going to say that to his face, or behind his back for that matter.
"Josef!" Lysander's voice cracked against the walls, stopping whatever had been happening. Josef's hand dropped away and he smiled a smile almost as crooked as his psyche.
"Lysander! Dear boy, I was simply explaining to your guest the way things work. The differences between the strong and the weak." On the last word Josef slid a glance at Arden so she knew exactly who the weak one was.
"I thought I told you not to come back," Lysander growled in reply.
"Ah! But luckily for you I knew you were only joking, we both know what would happen if you were serious..." he trailed off. The air changed around them, it was suddenly thick and cold. Arden watched both carefully, Josef still at her side, Lysander in front of her. It seemed to almost be a battle of wills, who would give in?
"Josef, I assure you, I was perfectly and completely serious, you crossed a big thick line," Lysander spoke in polite tones, but even Arden could tell there was serious meaning behind that. Josef, quite unexpectedly, cracked a smile,
"I think I'll just leave you alone until you're ready to appreciate me. Until then, you know what you have to do." There was a small breeze and Josef was gone. Sudconsciously, Arden began rubbing her chin, Lysander wasted no time in traveling to her side.
"Did he hurt you?" he asked huskily, tracing her jaw line with a gentle finger.
"Only a little...what did he do that crossed a line?"
"Later, sleep now." Arden wanted to ignore the command, but her knees gave out, she was asleep before she hit the floor.
