The Blink of an Eye Pt. 2

Drama Created on 12-5-07 Views(97) Story Rating G

Arden ran, breathlessly down unknown corridors, past countless doors.  She could feel his breath on her neck, he had no trouble keeping up with her.  She realized he was toying with her, this was all one big game, she was just a mouse in a maze.  She cried out as his hand clamped down on her shoulder, ending the chase.  She woke with a start, still breathless after only seconds of imagined chase.  She shut her eyes again, hoping that when they opened she would be home, counting to three she peeked, still in the murky torchlight.  However, many things had changed, she was on a bed and couldn't feel any pain, actually she felt like laughing.  Suddenly the cover she was under was hilarious shr couldn't stop the snicker from escaping, but it died as the door opened.  It was not the man with cold eyes, someone else, carrying a tray.
"Ah, you're awake," he smiled.  In return Arden frowned, confused.
"Where am I?" she questioned, only half expecting an answer.
"You're in the mountains, that's all I can tell you, I'm afraid."
    "Why am I here?"
"That I don't know, he's never brought anyone home before," was the reply, delievered with a slight frown.
"So I'm the only one that survived?" Arden questioned shakily.
"What?"  Before she could answer, they were interupted,
"James, I do hope you are not bothering our guest."  The voice was cold and could only belong to someone with eyes to match.  Arden was shocked into silence.
"No, Sir." was all James replied.  He set the tray next to her and turned away, not looking at her.
"You are not to speak to her again."  Was all she heard as the door shut behind them followed by the deafening 'click' of a lock.  Arden shot out of bed and tried the handle, it wouldn't budge.  It wasn't like she had any super spy skills she was as trapped as she would be locked in his cruel gaze.
