Rane glanced around, ashamed of her tears. Wiping her cheeks she made her decision and stepped back into the inn. "I am sorry, but I cannot marry you, I love another," she said to the stranger. She would not bend to Hawk's will like some runny nosed brat, she would break first. She began walking, quickly only slowing once she was away from town. She headed into the woods dry eyed, tears gone now. Twigs snapping and birds calling fell on deaf ears, her heart was shattered. She would just live alone, that was the only solution. She sat at the base of a tree and drifted off, dreamlessly. "Milady? Are you alive?" "I think it's rather clear that she's breathing you fool," another voice spoke. Rane tensed and blinked her eyes open, suddenly afraid. How stupid to fall asleep in the woods, had that Man taught her nothing? Several men stood about her, clearly they'd been in the woods awhile. "Isn't that Hawk's girl?" yet another asked. "Yeah," Guy 1 said, "run away have you?" "I have not!" Rane replied hotly, how dare these ingrates question her? "It's not my fault the fool tried to marry me off!" she let out before clamping her mouth closed, mortified. "Fool indeed, milady. I am Robin, and you are?" Rane swallowed, throat dry, "Robin Hood?" at his slight nod she continued, "I am Rane, and how do you know Hawk?" "That, I'm afraid is a long story, would you like to come back to camp with us? I can tell you on the way," he said offering a hand. Rane couldn't help it, she was still dying to know about Hawk and this was an interesting development. She grasped his hand and stood, off on another whirlwind adventure.
