The next time Rane left sleep it was well past noon.  She could hear an axe ringing and got dressed quickly.  Hawk was chopping wood, to Rane's secret pleasure, without a shirt.  She stood admiring for awhile before letting out a low whistle.  Hawk wiped his forehead and glanced in her direction.
    "The sleeping cub emerges from her deep slumber," he said while, to her immense disapointment pulling on his shirt.
    "Yeah, sorry about that.  Guess I was really tired," Rane apologized slowly.
    "That's alright.  I was thinking of visiting an old friend, would you like to come?"  Rane nodded, always eager for more information about Hawk, no matter who it came from.  She was so eager, she did not notice Hawk's strange behavior or the sack with every possesion she owned inside of it.

They arrived at the inn after a short horse ride.  Once they entered the lobby a rather plain man called out,
    "Hawk! Good to see you."
    "And you Thomas."  Hawk replied softly, a strange softness.  It was then that Rane realized what was going on.  She turned on her heel and left, Hawk right behind her.  "What're you doing?" he hissed.
    "I could ask you the same Hawk," Rane murmured, voice wavering.
    "Rane, it's far past time for you to be wed. Thomas is a good man he can take care of you."
    "I'm perfectly happy with you taking care of me," she argued, tears forming.
    "I love having you, but Cub," she began to cry harder, "things cannot stay this way."
    "Hawk, I love you," Rane said in desperation.
    "Don't, don't do that," Hawk pleaded stroking her hair.  "Be strong, and soon we will forget eachother."  That being said his arms left her, cold air taking their place.  He swung up onto his horse and left her to face her new husband.
