Keeping From Destruction (Tristan's side) - Ch.2
|
Tristan awoke to the stinging pain in his right arm. By now he was use to this pain. This is his eighth month in this place. He still wasn’t sure where he was. Why he was here. Why they were taking veils of his blood. All he knew was he was important. He had a rare type of blood that would enable them to do what they were planning on doing. A blood of the ancients they called it. Opening his eyes the bright light above him stung his retinas. His mouth was dry, lack of liquids. Supposedly it would help with the experiment. Why is it taking so damn long. Tristan thought as he sat up in bed. The thin white sheets barely held any warmth for him. The hospital gown irritated him. He looks into the double sided mirrors in front of him. Knowing they were standing behind there, watching. The pale walls made the room glow. All that was in there was a small metal chair beside his bed.
"Glad to see you are finally up." Raven says as she enters his room. His chart in her arms. Her dark green eyes glance over the latest test results. "We have found the strand we needed. Which means you are in for a long day. I will tell you that it may be quite painful for your body to get adjusted. But the end result is worth so much more!" She was barely able to hold in her excitement. He just glares at her. Wanting to be rid of this room he has been held prison of for almost a year. Her dark black hair falling forward as she checks his pulse. Making sure he was fit enough to withstand what will be taking place soon. She watched his dark grey eyes. They were unusual. She has never seen grey eyes. Every time she came in the room she became lost in them. His striking blonde hair lays over parts of his face. Other strands go in other directions.
"What is so important about my blood?" Tristan asks, the silence in the room being broken. Raven glances at him then turns her attention back to her charts. She wasn’t sure if she was suppose to tell him why he was so important. Why the world is in danger. She just gave him a quick smile. Scribbling a few things on the paper. Tristan sighs looking in another direction. He was tired of all this secrecy. Ready to just get this over with and go on about his life. But what he didn’t know is as soon as they inject him, his life would forever change. Clearing her throat she tells the others that it is time. Placing her walkie back into her lab coat. Tristan turns his attention towards the door as it slides open. The hissing of the door ringing in his ears. Another doctor walks in holding a large needle with a purple pinkish liquid inside. His heart begins to fasten as the man walks closer. A stern look on his. Raven pats Tristan’s shoulder as she backs away making room. The doctor nods to her then looks to Tristan.
"This will hurt." Was all he said. Squirting a few drops out of the top he proceeds to take Tristan’s hospital gown off. Revealing his chiseled chest. Tristan raises his eyebrow, unsure of why he took his gown off him. Why is it not going into my arm? He thinks to himself. Raven unable to take her eyes off of his chest. The doctor pats his right chest just above his heart. Glancing once more at Tristan before he shot the needle through his chest and into his heart. A horrified scream takes over the room as Tristan feels that stabbing pain shoot through his body. His knuckles turning white as he grabs the edge of his bed. His face turning pale. As the liquid pours into his system he can feel the burning as it mixes with his blood. He feels it attach itself to the blood. Etching itself into his DNA. Becoming one with the strands. Turning his blood a lighter red. The burning intensifies as it goes through this process. His body feeling like it’s on fire. Once the doctor has pushed all the liquid in he slowly pulls it out. Cleaning up the tiny flow of blood. He stands there, eyeing the small wound intently. Hoping that this is what they have been waiting for. Finally a sucking sound can barely be heard. Tristan peers down. Not believing his eyes as he watches his skin crawl together. Closing, making a tiny scar of what use to be.
"What the hell?" Tristan says slowly. Looking from the doctor to Raven, whose expression is of shock and excitement. "What did ya’ll do to me?!" He began yelling, feeling his burning pulse. The liquid now attacking the vital organs that help keep him alive. Weaving its way into them. The small hole in his heart slowly closing.
"Sorry Tristan. I told you it would be painful as your body gets adjusted to it. This is what makes you special. What makes your blood special. Your blood had the ingredients of doing this. All we had to do is find the missing ones to make it complete. Your blood is like your very own fountain of youth. You will age, but very, very slowly." Raven tells him, her hand busily writing down the results on the paper. Tristan looks down at his chest the information overwhelming. He glances at Raven as she makes her exit. All this was just too much. He had never been special. Never been important.
