I woke up to just another ordinary day. It was Wednesday and as usual, I didn’t feel like moving when the cacophonous sound of my alarm clock rung through my room. I was happy for my sound proof walls. One of these days, I was going to break that thing.  

I rolled silently out of bed and as my feet hit the ice cold floor; I felt chills run through my body. Something wasn’t right. I silently opened my door, careful to not wake my father on the next floor up, and headed down the stairs. 

I was on the second floor and I glanced around but saw nothing suspicious. I continued to the first floor and another set of chills ran through me. This was it.I walked into the living room and looked around; there I found what I was looking for. 

“Tyron what are you doing here?” I said quietly; still fearful that my father would wake and find him here. 

Tyron was my boyfriend of a year and six months and he had never just popped up like this. We met sophomore year and we were both now seniors.  

“I had to come and see you, to tell you myself.” 

I looked at him with confusion filling all of my features. “Huh?” 

He drew me into a tight embrace and buried his face in my hair. “I have to leave.” 

I nodded in agreement. “Yes that would be a good thing to do before my dad wakes up and finds you here.”  

I felt him shake his head. A sigh escaped his lips and I felt his cool breath on my neck. “No, I have to leave. For good. To London.” 

I pulled back out of his arms and looked at him.

“But Tyron I love you.” I looked up at him, as tears threatened to spill over. 

“And I love you Audra, but I have no choice in the mater.” 

“Can’t you stay? I want you to stay. Can’t you just hold me? Can’t you just hold me and promise me you’ll never let me go?” I searched his light brown eyes and found my answer. 

“No.” 

That did it. Tears slowly and silently started trailing down my cheeks, and I didn’t wipe them away. 

I saw the ambiguous expression on his face and had to turn away. “Just, go then. Call me in a few weeks so I’m sure you’re safe.” 

I heard his mouth open as if to say something else, but we both knew there was not much left to say.  

“I’ll miss you.” Still He silently whispered as if it were a clandestine phrase that would surely bring the whole world to an end.  

All I could do was nod for fear that if I spoke; my voice would surely unveil the sadness and longing that I was trying so hard to hide.

My back was to him as I herd his departing footsteps. I turned to watch him go and I was too late.  

I had no idea how he got in or how he got out, but I quickly made my way up to my room so that I could get ready for school. I could hurt later.
