A large fat man emerged from the car along with a skinny awkward looking redheaded boy.
Gabriel got out of the car followed by Chyrstal.“Can I help you gentlemen?”
“Yes as a matter of fact. Are you Gabriel Vargas? And are you Chyrstal Johnson?”
“yes.” They both answered at the same time.
“Hi, I’m Officer Levensen and this is my partner Odus.”
“Nice to meet you. We were just on our way out, and there is no one home, so if you don’t mind, my parents will return around 5:30.” Gabriel stated politely.
“Well, we’re not here for your parents we’re here for you.” He said motioning towards Chyrstal.
“Me?” she questioned.
“Yes, I’m sorry to tell you this, but there is a hostage situation with your cousin Bobby Phillips and his girlfriend Celia Borges. Could you please come with me?”
“Uh.” She was speechless.
“Oh, your boyfriend can come too I guess.” He added
“He’s not- how is this-, who is with-.” She stuttered past the different questions that she wanted to ask but couldn’t get out. She stood there in shock.
“Can we follow in my car?” asked Gabriel.
“Uh sure. Just come on, cause she was asked for specifically.” Officer Levensen said.
“Okay.” Gabriel walked to where Chyrstal was standing and put his arms around her waits. “Hey. Come on we have to go. You can help. Don’t worry, nothings going to happen. Okay? Everything is going to be fine. Now come on.” He helped her in to the passenger’s side of the car and she got in. he closed the door and walked over to the Officer.
“Hey, who exactly has the hostages?” he asked
“An Anthony Mendez.”
Gabriel sighed. “I was afraid of that.”
He walked back to the car, got in and headed off towards Bobby’s house.
