♥ Chapter One ♥
It was a warm September morning where Pheobe sat underneath a large weeping willow, drawing the beautiful scenery of green grass, orange, gold and crimson leaf filled trees, and a river of sparkling crystal clear water. The air was filled with the laughter of children playing at the base of the large hill where the willow sat.
That is what Pheobe loved the most. There her mind could wonder and she could be with out a care in the world. That was the day she met him.
His name was Aiden, he lived on the road always traveling from place to place, city to city, village to village. his love for art, beauty and radiance is what drew him to that small village.
Pheobe climbed the tree to get a better view of her beautiful little village. She could not believe how gorgeous everything looked from a higher view. The roofs of all the houses were all diffrent shades of browns and oranges.
It was so peaceful she soon fell asleep, pencil in hand. The sun blanketed her with its warmth, like a quilt for a new born.
She soon awoke to the fast paced movement of her falling out of the tree. As she lay there staring at the sky, a strong hand reached down and helped her to her feet.
She stood there staring deep into the eyes of the most handsome man she had ever seen. He was staring back. She thought to her self how stupid the must look. "I-I'm Pheobe" she managed to say, looking away from his mesmorising ice-blue eyes. "Hello Pheobe." He replied "I'm Aiden."
She loved the name Aiden, she had since shewas a little girl. It was her brothers name, he passed away when she was only seven years old, he was sixteen.
"So. Aiden?" she said "I love that name." "Why thank you, so what were you doing up in that tree?" he asked "I was drawing" she said, twirling her feet in the dirt like a young school girl. "I love art, and its really beautiful up there, I could show you if you like." "That would be wonderful." he replied.
There they sat, for hours on end, talking about nothing and everything. Pheobe felt so comfortable with him, time flew by. The bright colors of the son was soon replaced with the beauty of the sunset. Shades of pink, orange and purple soon filled the sky.
More time passed and the sky bacame dark. "I hope I can see you again." and with that he kissed her cheek and walked off. "Dont worry, you will." she said scilently to herself.
She hopped from the tree, walked around it and into the woods. she kept walking untill she reached a small cemetery. There she picked some herbs and stuffed tham into her cloak pockets.
As she walked back it was scilent except for the sound of the leaves crunching beneath her feet. The coldness began to creep in so she wrapped herself tightly in her cloak. It bas a bit better, but she was still cold so she decided to hurry home.
She reached the willow tree when to her surprise a tall man confronted her. "I know you are a witch." he stated "But i am no witch sir." Pheobe replied "You are a witch and you will burn for it, you cold hearted animal!" He shouted at her. "leave the girl alone Jankens!" a man yelled from the distance. "But she is a witch, did you hear me sir a cold hearted witch from hell!" "Thats enough!" the man said rathe harshly " Now leave!" "Yes sir" He said as he hurried off. " I am so sorry for that" the man said " by the way, my name is Issiah" Thank you Issiah im Pheobe." "I just have a question Pheobe, why is such a beautiful young girl alone out here at this time of night?" "Oh, nothing" she said as she ran off.
When she got home, she put the herbs into some small glass jars, grabbed her pencil and sketch pad and began drawing a cardinal. When she finished the drawing she decided to sit and think, she thought about why that man called her a witch. Is that how she appeared as to most people or was the man simply mad?
When she fell asleep she dreamed, she drempt of a man standing at the willow tree, hanging his head in sorrow looking at a grave........
