I thought about going back to my house in Franklin. Maybe if I go there we will find them across the street at their house. I told Trent what I was thinking but he said we should wait a little while maybe they will be back. I walked outside feeling anxious and uneasy. I stepped through the grass toward the waterfront. I ran my toes through the sand by the shore trying to figure out how to find Maggie and Sarah.
I looked to the left next to a large tree that hung over the water. Underneath the tree was a small shoe. I picked it up and realized that it was Sarah's. I ran back to the camp where Trent was still heavily investigating the area. "Look it's Sarah's shoe! they were by the water!" I exclaimed.
"Did you notice any foot prints or anything unusual?" He asked me.
"no i guess I was so excited about finding something that I didn't even look for other clues!" I stammered.
"let's go see!" he said
we walked back down to the water where there were a ton of foot prints. Sarah's were obvious because they were so tiny. I found what I was guessing were Maggie's footprints. There were also some unusual ones. They were large and had the tread of what I was guessing were work boots. There was a path of them along the shoreline. We followed the footprints for what seemed like an hour. we must have walked 2 1/2 or 3 miles when the footprints turned and ended at the porch of a camp.
The camp was large but didn't look well kept up. The steps were warped and looked like they had sustained water damage over a lot of time. The shingle siding was faded and dull looking. I was about to knock when Trent whispered, "dont knock. If someone took them against their will and find out that we know where they are they will bring Maggie and Sarah somewhere else and we will never find them!"
He was right. I looked at him with questioning eyes. I was out of answers what should we do? I could hear the voice of two men inside. we hurried to the bushes beside the steps so we wouldnt be seen. Two men stepped out onto the steps and continued to the driveway.
"What do we do now that we have them?" One asked the other.
"We go to town and call Jason so he can come get them." The other answered.
"shouldnt one of us stay here to make sure they dont try to get away?" The first man asked
"no they are tied up, the windows are boarded and there's a lock on the door. They dont know how long we will be and will be to scared to plan an escape!" the other answered.
"Fine lets just get this over with!" he said. They hopped into an old beat up volkswagen and sped away from the camp.
"ok we have about an hour to get them out and get as far away as possible!" I told Trent.
We didn't waste any time. I bolted into the camp yelling "Maggie!"
I heard a shuffle in a back room at the end of the hall and muffled screaming. The door was locked so Trent ran at it hitting it first with his shoulder. The first hit it didnt budge but the second the door came flying open. There sat Maggie and Sarah tied to a chair with duct tape over their mouths.
Trent untied them while i slowly removed the duct tape refraining from hurting them as well as I could. "Kristin!" Maggie yelled, "How did you find us? I was so scared! Thank you!"
"Dont worry about it right now!" I yelled, "we dont have much time we have to leave!"
Trent grabbed Sarah and we all ran the long distance as fast as we could back to my camp. We didnt go inside or anything we jumped into Trent's truck and sped away.
"where are we going to go?" I asked Trent.
"for now we will go to my house." He answered
