After thoughts
Mornings aren’t exactly the best part of the day for me because even when I try to make myself look good and presentable I still don’t look good enough. That’s why I hate magazines. They make everything look so do-it-yourself ish. Well, I defiantly know I’m not one of those people. I have strawberry blonde hair, which I am proud of, bluish green eyes, freckles invading most of my face and I am average at 5’8. Which I guess is a good height. I’m just happy I’m not done growing because being short is no fun.
“Chandler Hon, you have to get up if you’re going to be ready in time!” My mom yelled up to me.
“I am!” I called down the stairs. My hair was dripping wet and I had fresh clothes on. My mom certainly looked surprised because I never really was ready by the time she called out to me. I had short hair about shoulder length so it doesn’t take me very long to dry, but I do have to take the time to straiten it because if I don’t it flips up at the sides and that’s not very good. The sun was shining today so hopefully it will be a nice day today. Especially if Jamie was going to have her top down on her car today. I shivered at the thought of the wind going through my hair.
Before I went anywhere I had to put my leg braces on. Goody. I was wearing long pants today so hopefully no one would notice them. They made me feel so embarrassed. Walking down the stairs was embarrassing to. I couldn’t go down one step without making a noise. It took so much effort just to go down one stair.
“Having trouble there?” I turned around to find my good for nothing step Brother Ike.
“I think I’m okay.” I said taking my time and watching where I was going.
“Well little sis, I have some places to go and places to see so this will work better.” He said teasingly. He scooped me up and went fast down the flight of stairs.
“Ike! Slow down!” I said. Covering my eyes. I loved him to death, but he could be so aggressive. I opened my eyes back up and he was walking down the hall to the kitchen.
“Good morning everyone.” He said bursting open the kitchen door.
“Good morning.” I heard. When I looked around, no one noticed the fact I was being carried by Ike. Mom was making breakfast at the stove, Travis was reading the newspaper and my little step sister Ana was coloring in her drawing.
Mornings were quiet in the Jury house. Well, accept when Ana would have a fit. She’s only 7 years old, so I don’t blame her. Ike put my down on the ground and I caught my balance looking up at him stubbornly. He just gave me a grin and went to sit at the table.
Hey mom” I said going over giving her a hug.
“Morning babe. Hungry?” She said paying attention to what she was doing.
“You bet.” I said making my way slowly to the table.
“Sit next to me Chandly!” Ana said pulling out the seat next her. I gave her a smile and sat in the seat she pulled out for her.
“Morning chandler.” Said Travis looking up from his paper.
“Good morning” I said. The windows were open this morning so I’m guessing its going to be warm today.
“Aren’t you going to be hot in that?” My mom asked. I was wearing my dark blue flair jeans and my maroon ¾ Henley. I never got too hot very easily.
“Nah, I think I’ll be ok.” I said skimming what I was wearing.
“Alright.” Said my mom unsure. “What time are they picking you up by the way?”
“11 o’clock sharp.” I said tracing my finger on the marks years of accidents have made on the table.
“11? Well its 10:30 now you eat your breakfast and make sure you’re ready.” She put my plate in front of me and put everyone’s in front of them. I just took my time. I ate fast enough as it is.
I finished before everyone else. As usual. I got up put my plate in the dishwasher and looked at the time. 10:52. Oh no! I didn’t think was going to take that long. I went out the kitchen door and went up the stairs on my hands and knees. I was faster that way for all that maters. I rushed into my room. Found my chocker and slipped on some bangles.
“Where are my shoes?!” I rummaged through my piles on the floor and finally found my moccasins. Those would be good enough. Finally I slipped a headband on my head and took a last look at myself in the mirror. I look good enough. I grabbed my side bag I never use and popped my wallet in there.
“Their here Chandler!” my mom called.
“Ok!” I went down the stairs as fast as I could and as carefully as I could and rushed to the door.
“Bye!” I yelled out. Right as I put my hand on the door knob my mom called out,
“Do you have your phone?” I quickly went through my bag and found it stuffed in my front pocket of my bag.
“Yes! Gotta go, see ya later!” I quickly went out the door before my mom could ask if I had anything else and walked down the driveway where they waited for me in Jamie’s bright red Volkswagen beetle and of course, the top was down.
“Aw you look so cute!” Jamie yelled out from the front seat. They all gave me good looks and I blushed. Jamie had a pink stripped tang top on and her golden blonde hair was up in a messy bun. Her cheeks tan from her bronzer.
“You can sit in the front.” Teresa told me. Teresa was a little different from us. She wore black most of the time, but she was a great cook! I loved coming to her house when she invited me. Her dark brown hair fit her frame well and her hazel eyes were nicely placed on her face. She wore her half moon glasses once and awhile, she was wearing them today.
“Come on let’s go!” Yelled out Marcy. She was obviously wearing her dirty blonde curly hair in a high pony tail and she was wearing a red shirt with some buttons.
I slipped into the front seat of the car and we were off even before I had my seat belt on.
“I’m so happy your mom said you could come! There wouldn’t be a party without you here!” Marcy exclaimed, her arms draped over the back of my seat. I blushed a little at her words.
“Yes, it would be excruciating if you could not make it.” Teresa said, her hands clasped together.
“Yea we need to stay together forever! Right guys?!” Marcy yelled out.
“Certainly” “Of course!” “Yea”. This was certainly going to be a day to remember. Everyone was chattering and telling about what we should do today. I listened to everything they said, but I was looking out the side of the car at the passing forest. The wonder what would happen if the trees were alive. Would they stay here, or go somewhere people wouldn’t mistreat them and cut them down.
“Chandler? Are you listening to me?”
“Huh?” I said turning around to see Marcy and Teresa staring at me. “What did I do?”
Marcy let out a laugh. “Nothing at all. We were just wondering what you wanted for lunch.”
“Whatever you guys want, I always find something I like.” I gave them a smile and looked ahead as we entered the highway. “There aren’t many cars on the highway today.” I said aloud.
“I know, probably because people are staying home today for the nice weather.” Answered Jamie.
“I wonder what’s going on in town today. I hope something good” Marcy said as she rested her head on the back on my seat. “Maybe a parade or something like that.”
“Ha, parades don’t happen every day Marc.” I said with a slight snicker.
I liked being with Marcy, Jamie, and Teresa. They always have things to say when I don’t. I never really have random things to say only if I need to say something random, but at the same time they always have something to say. As the road stretched longer everyone got quiet. Marcy was braiding my short hair over and over again since it was coming out.
“I think it might be possible for a shower” Teresa said looking up at the sky. We all looked up at the towering clouds.
“Are you serious?” Marcy shot out. “Today is supposed to be a good day!” Well she thought so. Something doesn’t seem right to me, but if we hear thunder and lightning strikes then we are in for a rough day.

you are going slow...a little too slow...but it is good and you need to give hints about how she is becoming a vampire...oh and when you said that her eyes weren't really working quite right that was a hint. you could have where her back itches a lot now and it seems more poky and that could be wings...kmp |
