Tears From Heaven

Creative Created on 12-6-06 Views(88) Story Rating G

Love is one of the most powerful forces on this planet. It has helped drop some of history's most powerful people. It caused Achilles to turn his back on a archer, thus having his achilles tendon severed. Countless Ceasars, and Tzars, and Emperors....all have fallin to love. Love has also brought people together through history and helped create big things. Ronald Reagan., and his wife Nancy, stood beside each other through his reign over America. Love,.................What would life be like without it?.............. Private Menard placed his hand on his wife's stomach..."Do you feel him kicking?," she asked. "This is so weird. I can't believe that there is a baby in there." he laughed. His eyes met hers, and she smiled and reached over the bed and gave him a kiss. "Do you have to go?" she asked. "If I do not show up First Seargent Sheridon will have my ass", he replied. "Don't worry, I will be home in time to see him born. Get ready though, we have to be at the cermony in a half hour." When they arrived at the cermony people were dancing everywhere. They celebrated the fact they will go into battle tomarrow. Together they danced all night. When they first met...they met at a mutual friends anniversary party. They talked for hours, and had many things in common. The deal was sealed when "Tears From Heaven , by Eric Clapton played on their radio. They both loved that song because it has meaning to both of them.. Her hand grabbed his hand and held it tight. It became their song. Today is a different day. She held him tight because she didn't know if after today she would ever see him again. He bent down and kissed her forehead. "I have a surprise for you." he said. He looked at the DJ, and put his thumb up...Suddenly, the song switched to their song.."Tears From Heaven." She felt it comming...and sure enough she couldn't hold on to it anymore. She began to sob in his shoulder..she reached for his hand and held it as tight as she could. "Everything will be ok honey." They danced, and she thought the whole time. Memories flooded her mind of the times they had together. Everything they had ever done.. and still had to do. Later on that night....he hugged her good bye, and kissed her and her belly, and left to catch the bus to the airport. He found himself on the front lines with his fellow brotheren. "PRIVATE MENARD.....SECURE THAT BUNKER!!!" Seargant Willow screamed. "YES SEARGENT." he replied. Bullets were flying everywhere. Explosions, and fumes....dead bodies, and amputated limbs.. Blood cursed the ground...Private Menard hesitated for a minute....held his crucifix, and kissed his picture of his wife. " God be with me." he whispered. With that he grasped his weapon and ran up the side of the hill.. He didn't even make it to the top when he was stopped dead in his tracks. His weapon slowly fell from his hands, and into the dirt. His jaw hung as if someone cut the muscles from his face. His eyes stoickly pierced the distance. Falling to his knees.....the last thing he saw was his seargent looking into his eyes. Back home his wife was having a good time with his mother. They laughed as they looked upon his baby pictures. A black Lincoln Town Car rolled up to the house, and out of it came two army soldiers dressed in their dress uniform. She answered the door, and they handed her a yellow telegraph. "He fell bravely maam.....sniper fire..." one of them said. She fell to her knees and cried hysterically. His mother cried next to her. His wake was filled with family and friends. Everyone took the time to say good bye to him in their own way. His wife sat outside...she couldn't stand up there at this point. Everybody cleared out of the room, and she closed the door behind them so she could have some time alone... She slowly walked up to his casket..her hands to her mouth as she cried....She bent down and whispered..."I have a surprise for you baby..." she walked over, and pressed the button on the little radio she had brought with her. "Tears From Heaven" poured out of the speakers and filled the room. She bent down and grabbed his hand and held it tight. She placed her other hand on her stomach....... Together they listened to their song one last time..........................
