A Vow to Not do the Same
|
The snow was falling, and the slush was thick. It was a couple of days before christmas. A school bus comes to a stop in front of a white house. A young boy, and his little brother rush out with their backpacks on. Racing as they always do to get to the front door the little brother never won. He tried though. The young boy turns the knob, and enters their home. The front door opened into the dining room. It was decorated for Christmas. Garland stretched from one corner of the ceiling to the other. Bulbs hanging off the garland every two feet. It was always beautiful. The house was always be neat and clean, and be adorned with little statues of animals, and other little things. Their mother was very good at keeping things clean. Today however, was different. Little pieces of garland lay all over the floor. A antler off one of their mother's favorite statues of a deer scene lay in the doorway next to some broken glass. The bulbs where no more, and they lay broken all over the carpet. A flower from a vase that once stood in the middle of the table had made its way onto the light fixture in the ceiling. Chairs where toppled and strewn about the room. There was a hole in the wall where something had went through it. The room was a mess. The young boy and his little brother walk slowly into the kitchen. They find their mother sitting in a chair with her head in her hands. Her brown hair curtain her face. "Mom......?"The little boy hesisitantly said. Their mother said nothing, and continued sitting there with no movement. "Mom....Are you ok?" The young boy asked. The little brother gets panically, and tries to nudge her shoulder. Their mother's shoulders start to move up and down, and it is very obvious that she is crying. Sniffling, and trying to stop herself from crying in front of them...she says.."I'm ok boys.." She lifted her face, and brushed her hair back. Her mascara ran down her face, and her eyes are red and puffy. Taking her hand she rubs them dry,and stands up to do dishes like nothing has happened. "Why are you crying mom?" "Are you going to be ok?" the younger brother asked. She was just about to reply, and then the back door slammed, and thier father stormed in. "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING? WHY AREN'T YOU WHERE I TOLD YOU TO BE!!!?" he screamed. The young boy, and his little brother flinched, and backed up to the wall in fear. "FUCK YOU!!" My mom promptly answered. "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TELL ME WHAT TO FUCKING DO!!" Their mother flooded with tears again. Her voice slurred she was so upset. Their father stared at her. His face boiling with anger. His face growled with pressure. "FUCK ME?!!!....NO FUCK YOU" He screamed. That being said, he walked over to her doing dishes, and grabbed her hair. "Now get your fucking ass where I told you to be!!" He was dragging her by the hair now. Picking her up off the ground he sat her back in the chair that the two young boys found her in. Screaming, and crying their mother was trying fight him off, but it was no use. She sat in the chair crying and she didn't move for fear that he would hit her. "Another thing..." he started to say. He lifted her head from her hands, and slapped her face as hard as he could. "Don't you EVER FUCKING talk to me that way ever FUCKING again!!!" She stopped crying now....and just sat there rocking back and forth. The father stormed into the living room and sat in his chair. He opened a bag of sun flower seeds and began to eat. "You two....Get your asses up to your room!?" He screamed. The young boy looked at his little brother...they then looked at their mother. The both placed their hand on her shoulder gave it a quick rub, and walked up the stairs and to their room. Their father sat for hours eating his sunflower seeds, and accumulated a emense pile of shells all over the floor. He knew he wasn't going to pick them up. He drank a lot as he always did. The mother eventually left him, and to this day he has never been with anyone else. He now lives with his parents at the age of forty-five. He is unemployed, and smokes marijuana religiously. She has never been so happy. She went on to finally live how she wanted to live. The garland has never been so beautiful. The bulbs never as shiny. The antler was eventually fixed. As for the two little boys.....They eventually were met with a sister and another brother. The little brother grew up and got married, had a little daughter named Casey. The young boy.....well.......I work at Turning Stone Casino...married the wrong person.....and constantly search to make a family of my own. My father was never there for me, he never taught me how to fight, or how to fish. He wasn't there the first time I was intersted in the opposite sex. I never wrestled with him, or hugged him. To this day we have really never had a actual conversation about anything. He did however teach me one thing. He will just never know it. To never ever disrespect a woman, and love her with your utmost being and soul. He taught me that being the way he was never pays off. My kids will never see that crap that he put my mother through. . I thank him for it. I will never do it....after all.......Who wants to die alone....? ...He will...........
