Christianity...what have we become?

Philosophy Created on 11-8-07 Views(176) Story Rating G

Let's point the finger at ourselves for a change. Ok so here it goes:

In my opinion, all of you Christian (let alone organized religion) bashers have only been looking at TODAY'S Christians, if we can call them that. You have been pointing out flaws and making accusations based on what CHRISTIANS are, not CHRISTIANITY in intself.

You have been looking at the sac-religious people today who can go to slep at night and call themselves Christians. When non-believers look at Christians today, they are basing their opinions of a world-wide religion that is incredibly old on people TODAY who don't deserve to be called Christians. For example, the church group who rallied holding signs saying, "THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS" and "GOD HATES YOU" because, in their opinion, since most of America supports gay rights, that a soldier going out to fight for America is defending that gay, and should go to Hell. This, folks, makes me sick! I'm talking about the poeple who make chocolate Jesues and market their religion for money, the Catholic (no offense) priests who say they are close with God, and preach on Sunday, but went to a strip club that Saturday. I'm talking about the Pope, for example, who said he's the only one that can talk to God? Why should we have to confess in front of anyone except God? I didn't know that it was the Pope's descision if I go to Hell or not. I'm talking about the people who make their arguments against evolution by simply saying "it's too compicated. I don't understand it so it must be wrong."

Well, to actually be able to accuse Christianity with a solid platform, you must first understand it:

Well here's my view and perception of the Bible. God made the Heavens and Eath and angels for whatever reason. He put two humans on Earth so they could multiply and prosper. But before he made Earth, the angel Lucifer became power-hungry and tried to overthrow God. Lucifer wanted power and a kingdom? God gave him Hell. Now Lucifer, renamed Satan, had some hard feelings and was now bent on destroying God's plans for civilization and prosperity among the world. So he came to Earth in the form of a snake. He temped Eve, saying "Surely you will not die!"Gensesis 3:04 when Eve told him of the dangers of taking a bite. He was deceitful and cunning, the master of liars. Even though Eve may not have known who was in the sheep's clothing, she had no excuse for listening to him. She could have easily shut him out. It doesn't matter who it is, if they want you to defy God, then you can just forget them! But, in her infinate stupidity, she took an apple from the Tree of Knowledge and took a chunk out of it.

Then, she offered Adam a bite. Adam, in the same sitiuation as Eve, could have easily gone with the old "No thanks, my parents will smell the smoke on my clothes" but decided not to, to go ahead and smoke his first cigarrette and blacken his lungs forever. In doing so, they doomed mankind. Behold, the birth of Sin in humans. Now sin, already existed, but not amongst humans. Only in Satan. The father of Lies and Deception. Now humanity and Satan were forever linked, their blood bound by defiance of their Creator. So here's a little tid bit of some Genesis for ya, "And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they both knew that they were naked, and hey sewed fig leaves togetherans made themselves loin coverings.8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amond the trees in the garden." Genesis 3:07 and 3:08

So now we're doomed. God had to mark that special day on His calendar, Armegeddon. But then comes the second half in the Word. The New Testament. God had to send His one and only son, and incartantion of Himself, Jesus down to Earth. He had tried everything, a flood, plagues, making a nation live in a desert for 40 years, banishing His only creations, Adam, Eve, and Cain from Paradise, but He couldn't wash out the pink stains from the red sock in His meant-to-be white laudry load. Now He had to let His son Jesus suffer and get killed so that we may be forgiven. Because the sheep offerings just weren't cutting it. So in his lifetime on Earth, Jesus tried to teach us the good ways of God, tried to teach is morals, tried to teach us about the reward for being good, and punishment for being bad. And Lo! Christianity as it was intended. Good-natured humans who after Jesus died, asked for forgiveness from God and to try to stop sinning, and lead a good life. Nobody's perfect except for Jesus, but that doesn't mean we can't be good neighbors and try to be Christians like God wanted. But no.

We had to go and do it all over again. We had to bring SO much sin into our amazingly beautiful world and destroy it. Hey, I'm saying Christians are as much responsible for it as any other reigious or Atheist/Agnostic people. And I would like to help other want-to-be or trying-to-be Christians not become like we have today. So corrupt and blackened with sin. I'm no preacher, I never was and I probably won't be, and I'm not perfect. I'm just saying, you athiests and agnostics and evolutionists are beasing your view of an ancient and world-acceptedd religion on corrupt liars.

Why don't you start basing it on what Christianity is SUPPOSED to be?

spygirl7 I agree with it. Many people say they are Christians, but do not act that way at all. All Christians are supposed to show a change once they have been saved, on the inside and out!

muffinbobeat48 World accepted...hmmm. Okay, yes, it is. And I like your way of thinking. I personally am Agnostic but I was raised Christian. What I have to say is that there are a LOT of Christians who ARE biased. On that same note, there are a LOT of unpleasant people of other religions. It takes all kinds. I base my view of Christianity on what it should be, but I base my view of so-called Christians on individual personality.

DeathMetalPunk I believe it was Mahatma Gandji who said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." That's what has happened. Oh well, I try to follow the WWJD.

oz10norrid totally correct...most religions become tainted and perversed over time...ie: islam, and some forms of buddhism (mahayana sects) really i think that most religions contain valid points and can be considered true in their purest forms...but its when people become obsessed with religion and take it literally by the letter...even tho GOD did not right the Bible, or even choose what books went in it, thats when things get ugly, when people are intolerant of other peoples beliefs because they think theirs are superior
