A report on the Danger of Truth

Philosophy Created on 11-3-07 Views(135) Story Rating G

What have we done? Where are we going? What's going on?

Questions rise from citizens all around the world. The American dream is thrown in the trash. The world as we know it is ending. What's happening? Hate mongers among the earth this day. Help is needed in the most dire of moments.

You hear a boy cry down the street. His father has been laid off. An illeagal immigrant has taken his place. The child's mother does not have a job. The family cannot apply for welfare. They are kicked out of their apartment. They have to sleep in a subway tunnel tonight.

What happened to compassion? What happened to the neighborly? What happened to friends? If it were like the old days that familes' neighbors wouuld harbor them in their house. But no. They have their own problems to be concerned with. One more trouble wouldn't hurt, but in their minds it would.

You hear the shouts of a man and a woman across the alley. Another family is broken tonight. The father is a drunk, the mother works two jobs but is seeing another man. The child does not know what is going on, does not know why this happening. Is this fair to him? No, nothing is fair anymore. Nothing. The father slaps the mother. The child hides under a table. The mother leaves, forgetting the child and the father. Now they cannot pay taxes or anything. They are forced to sleep on the streets.

Compassion is lost as easily as it is gained. In the blink of an eye a life can be thrown away.

You hear a gun shot from down the street. A black man has just shot a white man. The two were best friends in their childhood. Now they have been marked by hate. The man regrets shooting his used-to-be friend. They cannot end like this. He kneels down next to him, tries to dress his wound, but knows all is lost. Rain pours down in the city. The end of lives are reached tongight.

Frienship can be lost in a blink of an eye. So can a life. This happens all over the world now. Poverty, hate, discrimination.Help us, but how? You can't. No one can. Not now.

At school a child is teased because she is overweight. She eats so much because her selfesteem is so low. She never had any friends because she was too shy to make them. Then she ate because she was depressed, now she is overwight and is teased. Another child down the hall is being beat up because he is different. He is black, african-american whatever you want to call it. The thing is he is being beaten up for someting he didn't choose. He couldn't help it. Another child is being beaten up and has his money taken away because he is smart. He didn't choose it be smarter than the other students. He doesn't do it on purpose, but his is. And he is punished for it. Why?

The world is bad. Evil by many standards. People are starving all around, people are being opressed all around, people are becoming homeless all around, people are dying all around.

Now the earth is counting down its days colser and closer. For whatever reason you believe. Global Warming, War, Fate, God. Whatever the reason, we are ending. The golden age of man is over. Our life is cut short. And what do we have to show for it? A lot, you might say, a lot of accomplishments, ingenuity, invention, but even more hate, killing, for a reason that does not matter in the long run.

The Danger of Truth. The truth that we are condemned. That we, deep down, are evil is a sense. We all carry tha ability to hate, to hurt. Some choose not to use it, but many, many more choose to use it for their advantage. For their delight. And society is vane as ever and everyone is more concerned about fashion and celebrities than they are about each other and the world. And those who are actually good starve, die, or their words fall on deaf ears. The truth that we are ending, the truth that the clock is almost done ticking, the truth that compassion and morals have fleeted from out hearts. This truth is dangerous. It has brought about our demise. This is the Danger of Truth.

DeathMetalPunk I wrote that just to show that races are fighting others. Not to be decisive or picking on an individual one. Just i thought people would get the wrong message if put hispanic or white man shot black man.

transgenic Why did you write that the black man shot the white man? But you're right, it's the sad truth. Sometimes, though, everybody's just gotta be on their own...

DeathMetalPunk developed? as in experence or in literature? becasue believe me, i've had all the experiences of any grown man. enough to know about a lot of things. But i see your point. But i was just so in the moment with my typing my grammar and spelling sucked. what are ethos?

onaipwolf hm...it's ok. You need to work on the grammar a bit. Also, you rely too heavily on ethos to prove your point. True, it is good, to make your reader feel empathetic, since it is a good method of getting others to agree with your argument. However, that is all you use. It is also a good idea to sprinkle some logos into your argument as well. So, my thirteen year old philosopher, you have some interesting ideas, but they need to be more developed to have any kind of convincing power.
