Death

Short Created on 11-26-07 Views(46) Story Rating G

Raine hovered over her body speechless, her mouth slightly open, eyes as wide as saucers. She still couldn't comprehend that she'd died. Her body lying broken and bruised before her. Her mix matched family all around her. Raine's eyes teared up as she saw them mourning her death. She needed to get back; had too. She wasn't one to just die and go to the after life though she could already feel its tug as she continued to wander around her corpse. As she saw Walker approach, Raine's tears spilled over. She walked to him, her ghostly features shimmering in the small sections of sunlight. Gently she traced a finger along his cheek, a watery smile gracing her pretty features. "Hey handsome." She whispered, Raine's eyes on her mate before something out of the corner of her caught her attention. It was Draz. His face was buried in the dirt and she could see his body shaking with sobs. Kneeling before her friend, she placed a kiss on his shoulder. "It's all right," She murmured to him. "I don't blame you, Draz. It wasn't your fault." She spoke the words, but she knew none of them could hear her. They continued to talk amongst themselves about what to do, Silirial bringing up the fact that she was too stubborn to stay dead. It brought a smile to the female Alpha's lips because she was. She knew by now she should already be on the other side, the tugging sensation increasing ever so slightly; as if were growing annoyed of being ignored.

Turning back to her mate, Raine gave him another smile, her face bright as she stared at him. It took only a second for her features to fall and her expression to change to hurt and pain. "Don't you want me back?" She asked him timidly, taking a step forward, her hand outstretched at nothing. As Raine's foot touched the ground, her hurt was buried by anger, her face twisting into rage. "Don't I deserve to come back?!" She screamed at him, her fists clenching at her sides. "Bring me back!!" She hollered, at the same time Draz did. Surprised to hear an echo, Raine stood still as Draz flew past her and grabbed Walker by the collar. The anger that boiled beneath her ghostly flesh mimicking his. Again, her friend yelled for her mate to bring her back and she couldn't help but smile. She'd have to thank him for it later. He was the only one who seemed to really want her back. As she watched her mate fall, Raine snarled. "You act as if you don't want to bring me back." She spat at the ground. "As if you'd rather have me gone for good and not have to bother with me anymore." Raine snarled once more as Walker forced Draz to let go of him, her eyes ablaze with anger. "Who says I'm going to change!" She yelled, stomping her foot. Not even her best friend Gerrick had said anything.

Speaking of her best friend, Raine swiveled in his direction and glared. He was wrapped in his mate's embrace and just staring at her fallen form on the ground. "Is that all you can do?! Stare at me?!" She hollered at him, though she knew she wasn't going to get a response. "Why aren't you helping bring me back?!" Desperation was in her voice, hurt, pain. Didn't they want her back? What was with everyone? How come only Draz was rushing to her rescue to help her come back? Her mate wasn't even sure he wanted to bring her back and he supposedly loved her. Raine's knees gave way and she collapsed to the ground with a shocked expression on her face. Walker had confirmed that she was going to be put back in her body but did she even want to now? The tugging sensation grew even more now and Raine could feel wisps of ghost like fingers brushing against her transparent skin, until finally a hand clamped around her wrist and yanked her backwards.

Raine screamed, tugging against the arms pull only to be met with more, each one tightly holding on to her and making sure she wasn’t going anywhere. Panic rose in her gut and she desperately tried to pull against the invisible hands as they dragged her towards, what she realized was, a bright light. The famous tunnel leading to Heaven. But Raine wasn’t sure that’s where she was going. She wasn’t even sure she was going to be going to Hell. She figured she’d be stuck in Limbo forever, just wandering the empty landscape for decades until she didn’t know how many days she’d been there or even her name. Raine’s panic quickly turned to terror and she continued to struggle until something swept over her and Raine felt her body go lax, a calming feeling washing over her body. Raine’s eyes glazed over and her spirit was finally brought over to the other side.

Authors Note:

Right, I wrote this as an aftermath to Raine’s suicide. Sort of… Eh, interrupt how you want. =] Hope you like though.
