 BBRRRNNNNGGG! the school bell rings piercingly and annoyingly. I sigh, and start to get up from my chair, not having enough energy to beat the rest of the crowd to put their instruments away. Of all my classes, band is both one of the msot enjoyable, and one of the most chaotic. I'm almost to the cabinets, when a flash of sandy-brown hair catches my eye. I groan.loudly.

"So, I heard your piccolo solo. It was beautiful, finally."

"Derek, you know its very difficult to play low on a piccolo. if you dont have something nice to say, just close your mouth."

"Hey, that WAS nice. Sort of. You know I like to tease you."

"Yes, I know. What I cant understand is WHY."

"Because I like to see your reaction. But that's not why I came over here. Listen. I'm going to a coldplay concert, and I have an extra ticket. I was kinda hoping..."

OH MY GOD. I love coldplay. They're my favorite band ever. But why would Derek have an extra ticket? Why is he even going at all? Guys like him don't appreciate coldplay.  And why is he inviting me? Because he knows I like coldplay? becuase he's gonna be a jerk and get my hopes up, then leave me sitting at home waiting for three hours? because.....

"Lela? uh... Lela?"

I speak before my mind has time to process.

"Sure, Why not?"  

 WHADT?!!!!

"Cool." At least He SEEMS excited. " So I'll pick you up at 6, okay?"

"o.k"

I walk out of the band room, slightly dazed at what just happened. Without warning, Kaity attacks me. "OOOHH MYYY GOOODDD! Derek Pierce just asked you out. DEREK JUST ASKED YOU OUT!!!" 

Sometimes, I REALLY hate my brain.
