"Kaylan wake up! We have to go to a hearing test in Windsor today!"I heard my mom say as my dog shoved his nose into my side and wiggling it, causing me some pain. "Ughh fine. Get the stupid dog's nose away from me and I'll get up!" I groaned as I pushed my dog's head away from my face and pulling the covers over my face.
In the car, on the way there, I was just looking out the window, millions of thoughts running through my head, Another day of skipping school for a hearing test, my hearing isn't gonna get worse. I just know it. I heard my mom rambling on about things, I didn't even understand what she was saying over the loud rumbling of the air hitting the van. "Kaylan! Are you even listening to what I'm saying?"She asked me as I looked over at her slightly and nodded. I went back to staring out the window, counting the trees as they blurred out of my site.
Stretching my arms as I got out of my mom's friend's van, she glanced at me, "You ready?" I nodded and we walked into the building. I just wanted to get the test done and over with, it was annoying going there, it took up my time when I could be chilling with my friends at school.
I sat in the regular chair as the lady took my hearing aides, and put these headphone things on my head, she left the little room thingy and sat infront of the window, she put on her headphones and switched the mic on. "Can you hear me?" She asked as she flipped through some papers, getting the test ready. I nodded my head. First things for the test is, she clicks these buttons and they send signals to the headphones. I heard a low beep, and I pressed the button she had gave me, to press whenever I heard a beep. That was how the test was done.
I could BARELY hear the high pitched beeps, she would keep on making them louder until my head was throbbing from the loudness, but that was the way I could hear it.
She let me put on my hearing aides back on, and I walked out of the little room I was in, and sat down in a chair, by the door. She sighed and kept on looking at the papers, Man.. just tell us the fricking results so we can go home! "Uhmm, if you look at the test results, the left ear's hearing has now gone too far down, it's off the test chart, and the right ear's hearing is going down aswell. At this point, if it keeps on going down, she could go deaf." She told my mom, with me listening. I swear to god, it felt like someone took my heart of out my chest, stomped on it and burned it, then put it back in my chest. I didn't say anything the whole time we were there, not after what she said.
You may think, "So what's wrong with that? You're going deaf, it's not like you're dying or anything!" You're wrong, it kills me, knowing I'm going deaf. I've heard so many things, I enjoy sounds, I would NEVER want to hear sound for only 11 years and then losing my hearing.
We grabbed some taco bell, trying not to cry or anything, then went home. That night, my brother came into my room and said "I love you, and always will, don't forget that." He hugged me and went back into his room. I heard him crying, I got up and walked into his room, he was sobbing, he cried on my shoulder saying "I love you, and always will."
After he stopped crying, I went downstairs to where my sister was, and started crying onto her shoulder, she tried her best not to cry, and cried after I went back upstairs.
If you were laughing during this. You have no idea how much this hurts me. It wasn't that long either. I will always remember, and will never be able to forget that day. November 16th, 2007. My hero, Nicholas Jerry Jonas [A Jonas Brother] Found out he had diabetes November 16th, 2005. Some say the day and month was just a coincidence. What do you think?
