She turned back without saying anything.

He had to leave.

There was something about her,

he just couldnt be there.

He stalked out to his car.

The cold pre-fall air hit him with a fresh cut grass scented gust.

His black Honda waited, cold in the parking lot.

He could see the lights of the football stadium reflect agaisnt the black hood of his car.

He slid in cranking the engine as it purred.

Should he wait to see if she was okay?

No,

he pulled out of the parking lot.

Tempted to shoot over and see what was left of the football game.

He drove past punching the radio on,

Evan bobbed his head to Innocent Blood he speed growing as he pulled onto the near empty highway.

Chester Creek was boring. The whole town focused on football games, who's getting into college, whos not. The towns pride was Chester Creek highschool.

He revved the engine flying faster down the dark high way dotted with street lamps.

Driving and music was his escape. Always was. Music was a love that never left him.

But now, escaping the routine of this twon was harder. He needed another outlet.

"It is my oxygen, the very air that I breathe, the very essence of my soul, the very fiber of my being," he thought.

"The one thing ive always been able to turn to when there was nothing else," it was true in his case. He had been alone many times.

With nothing but dead ends to turn to,

blank walls.

But that girl,

she wasnt a blank wall,

or a dead end,

she wasnt the type to spew vacant words,

she was somebody.

Who meant something.

He just didnt know what.
