Narcissim Compendium: Science
|
I was recently contemplating the difference is between scientific fields and would like to share what I came up with you.
There are three real science fields biology, physics, and chemistry. Yet they differ on many levels, and not just field of study but philosophical belief, characteristics, and realm of possibility.
For instance biologists dwell half in the house of philosophy and half in the world of reality. Biology is defined as understanding things that are living or once were. A biologist strives to see what things do and where they come from, why we are here. Yet they live in the realm of reality because they can't just assume theories about biology and not be able to prove it. This allows them to understand humans on a cellular level. So biologists are essentially people trying to understand them selves and sitting around staring at plants.
Physicists are almost completely in the house of philosophy. Physics is defined as understanding the universe and how it works, that's why everything is referred to as a theory. No subject in physics is ever closed, even if its been proven. Gravity applies to us all, yet there are physicists who theorized that if are molecular bonds weren't as strong we could over come that like air. Well waters molecular bonds aren't all that strong and it isn't doing such a great job. Or that you hit a solid object you aren't going to go through it yet string theory states that if I walk into that wall at the same spot 1,000 times I will eventually pass through it. Now let me remind you the definition of crazy is trying the exact same thing repeatedly and expecting different results, and the definition of stupid is letting some one convince you to walk into a wall 1,000 times. So physicists are a bunch of people sitting around arguing and telling each other there is no spoon.
Chemists how ever are almost completely in the world of reality. Chemistry is defined as the breaking down and changing of matter. In chemistry if you can't produce a result you got squat. Chemists are constantly seeing the effects of matter on other matter, you can't theorize in chemistry, if you claim an alkali metal and water will explode, and you through it in water it either explodes or it doesn't and all you can do is change the volume. In chemistry you use a group of experimented facts to produce an answer. So chemists are a bunch of disbelievers standing around going I wonder what would happen if I lit this on fire.
