Rene felt her body relax to Logan's touch. Her eyes closed as she was memorized by his kiss. A flash of last night replayed in her mind. Who was that girl? He had kissed a girl just last night. Pulling away, Rene covered her mouth and stepped back. "What?" Logan asked, noticing the look in her eyes. "I can't do this.." She sighed, turning away. "Do what? We were just talking..." He tried to reason. "You kissed me Logan, that wasn't talking!" Rene snapped, "You cant kiss me after you kissed her last night... it doesn't work that way." "And you can just up and leave your boyfriend when I come back into the picture?" Logan asked, crossing his arms, "That's not right either... you know that." "I told you.." "Yeah yeah, it was destined to end because there was nothing there... but what you're failing to mention is that after seeing me, confirming that I still existed - you didn't want him anymore because you want me back." He interupted. Rene slightly nodded, "A little cocky aren't you? What makes you think I left Thomas for you?" Logan stepped closer, looking into her eyes, "You kissed back."
Thomas lit the fireplace and looked around at all the rose petals scattered all over the floor. He lit some candles and laid a blanket onto the floor.
"Why now? Six years Logan.. I had to wait six years to see you..." Rene muttered, "Why?" He sighed, sitting back down, "You left... not me." "Well you left eventually didn't you?" She asked, sitting across from him. A wave rolled in and crashed against the rocks, mist sprayed out over them. Logan nodded, "I did leave... and I saw many different places and many different things Rene... thing's you couldn't imagine even if you tried." Rene shifted, "Meaning what? Where did you go?" "I joined the army Rene... not long after you left... couldn't stand waiting for a miracle I guess." She frowned, "You did what? What if you died?" He shrugged, "I don't like to believe in 'what if's' I live in reality and reality is - I'm alive." Rene shook her head, "That doesn't matter Logan if you died I wouldn't have known!" Logan rolled his eyes, pulled his shirt over his head and stood. Rene looked away, instantly noticing the different scars marking his body. "I didn't die Rene but I came real close..." He explained, "Okay?" She cleared her throat, eyes watering again, "Yeah.. fine, whatever." Logan frowned, "Rene... don't cry.." She rose and shrugged, "It doesn't matter does it? A girls going to cry when shes in my position.." "What about me?!" Logan snapped, "You dont think it hurts me or I haven't been hurting?" "Well now you see why this will never work... we both hurt eachother enough already!" Rene yelled. She shook her head, "It was a mistake running into you last night..." Logan nodded, "That's right... walk away! Always playing the victim aren't you Rene?" Rene looked back, "Fuck you!" "No!" He yelled, " Go fuck Thomas, I'm sure he'll take his whore back!" She smacked him across his face. He looked out at the water, his cheek turning a soft pink. The sun hit his eyes making the emerald color appear lighter. A warm tear slipped down his cheek and he wiped it away. "Logan... I'm sorry," Rene whispered, "I didn't mean.." He held up his hand, "Yeah, I'm sorry too..." He walked past her and the distance between then grew larger the further down the beach he got. Rene bowed her head, crossed her arms and walked back to her car.
Logan glanced back, noticing Rene was already gone. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed.
Thomas looked up as Rene entered the house. She turned when she noticed the lights were off and Thomas was sitting in the livingroom. "I thought you would've left by now..." She muttered, glancing at all the rose petals and candles. "Yeah, I got your little letter but that doesn't mean I cared about whatever you wrote... you see, I won't let Logan take you away from me..." Thomas explained. Rene shrugged, "Well you don't have to worry about him... we're done. for good." "Good." He smiled. She narrowed her eyes, "We're done too Thomas, I meant everything I said... we can't continue being together." Thomas' smile faded. He rose and started to approach her, "You don't mean that.." Rene's heart started to race and she backed up towards the front door, "Yes I do... I think you need to leave."
"Britney?" Logan greeted entering the bar. She smiled, "Hey stranger, how's it going?" "Do you know where Rene lives?" He asked, sitting across from her. Britney nodded, "Yeah but I don't think it's a good idea that you see her..." "Been there done that... how about the address?" He asked, handing her a pen and his notebook. She read the title 'Lyrics' and smiled.
"I don't want to leave..." Thomas sighed, "I refuse to believe you don't love me..." Rene backed into the front door and slightly jumped. He smirked, running his thumb up her arm, "Are you scared of me Rene?" She shook her head, "No... do I have a reason to be?" Thomas shrugged, "You look scared... and yes, you should."
" She's leaving Thomas..." Logan explained, observing her as she read through his lyrics. Britney looked up, "What?" He nodded, "She told me.." ".... how did he take it?" She asked, closing the notebook. Logan shrugged, "I'm guessing she's telling him right now.." Britney narrowed her eyes, "That guys obsessed with her... he's not going to take that very lightly..." Logan rose, "Then how about that adress Brit?"
Rene opened the door but Thomas slammed her against it, making it close. Locking it with his other hand, he held her back at her waist. "Don't make this more difficult than it already is..." He demanded, his breath enough to make someone gag. "You're drunk Thomas!" She snapped, "Go home!" "I AM HOME!" He scolded smacking her across the face. Rene felt her whole body start to tremble. 'Not again... God please.. not again.' She thought to herself.
