How to say "I love you" [10]

The tennis court was empty like always. But never this quiet. I thought didn't know what to expect in a quiet tennis court. So, I just did my daily routine. Stretches, stuff like that. "Hey!" Someone suddenly called. I turned to find none other than Spencer looking down on me. "Hey." He reapeated. I was shocked. Why wasn't he with those drooling girls? There always seem to be more of them every day. "What do you want Spence?" No matter how he acted, I wasn't going to let the acts slide. He could all be saving up to see if I really cared and stuff. I did, but last time he did this he was calling me "sappy" for who knows how long. "I just want to watch you play." Was all he said. I even heard Adam whisper huh to this strange behavior.

"You know you can without my permission..." I answered. He nodded and walked to stand next to Adam outside of the tennis court. The faint mutters of "You alright man?" and "Yeah..." were heard. I didn't try and let it get to me. It could be all an act, but what if it wasn't?

Playing tennis was the easy part, thinking and playing were the hard. I was trying to think of ways to tell Adam I loved him without actually saying it. But, knowing he was a guy he wouldn't get it. I know it sounds be-littling. He's a guy though, really. Thinking real hard, I accidentaly shot the ball right out of the court. Almost knocking Adam right in the eye. I was surprised at myself that I actually hit a sideways shot without thinking about it. Soon I was back to reality and hurried over. "No!" Adam shouted, and stopping me in my tracks. "I got it girl." he winked and my heart skipped again. If it keeps that up I'm gonna be in the hospital. He jogged over to the lone ball and threw it back. I caught it but suddenly dropped it somehow. There was a feeling something wasn't right. I looked toward Spencer, and he was sitting on the bench, head bowed. I was starting to get worried now.

"Adam...can you come here..." I asked quietly. He raised his eyebrow, but let himself in through the gate and smiled. "Yes?" Adam's cheeks were a rosy color from the heat, and I sighed at his handsomeness. "I think we should break for lunch." Again raising his eyebrow, but questioned, "Something wrong?"

"I'm feeling...famished."

"I see, want a ride?" He didn't get on his knees. But instead, he held out his arms. Heart pounding and gut throbbing I nodded. The feeling to being lifted off the ground was a familar one now, but it just would get better everytime he let me. I knew he wouldn't drop me. There was a sense of relief when he held me. Like the world was now on his shoulders, and he could bear the heavy load while I could not. His hair seemed to shine as the natural golden highlights caught the suns rays. Lips that were so different, but origanal, curved into a smile and my life suddenly made sense. There was no Spencer in Adam+Delena land. No war, nothing. Just peace, and the love that we gave each other.

I suddenly felt it. That spark, speak, anything I had been wishing for. My lips unraveled and I spoke, "I love you."

Adam's smile was larger now, and his calm deep voice whispered into my soul, "I love you too."

"I loved her first." Was what shattered the world.
