Aaron didn’t seem to understand. He was slow now, like he was afraid. I had never seen him like this before in the time that we had spent with each other. The flight of stairs that we had come to was very long and large. He was taking it step-by-step. I didn’t dare ask what was wrong. Now, we had to find him. Elder Aaron, and by the looks of him in the present, the older one could look like anything. He understood that at least. “Meggie…Please…Can we stop for a second? I just want to…ya know…think.” So we stopped. As he leaned his head against the wall, I spotted something. A scar. Deep it seems. Forgetting all about where we were; I asked, “Aaron. What is that?” But I didn’t dare point. He would probably know what I was talking about right off the bat anyway. “Oh…” He quickly put his hand to his neck over the scar. “Um…it’s where I…um…” Aaron was unable to answer. Then, his face turned a bright pink, a deep color for pale skin tone like his. It was almost as if he was afraid of the scar. Not just, not wanting to explain how it got there. “Meggie. That’s where…I just…Meggie I tried to slit…” He didn’t have to say anything else. I just leaned my head on his shoulder. Aaron shouldn’t have to talk about it. I’m sure that he was already disgusted with it when he first tried. “I’m sorry.” I whispered. “No, I’m sorry.” He suggested.
