[Suicide] PART 8
|
He turned my head with his shoulder without pushing me away. The skylines were high above us now. This car rode us right into the city. Suddenly, Aaron took a deep breath. Regonizing it, I held onto his shirt. A large thrust away from the car, and a quick feeling of weightlessness. I didn't exaclty know how to take the landing. It was perfect. Rehersed, it seemed.
"Are you okay?" Aaron asked. I felt something run against my forehead. Soft, and textured. As it was running against it, there was a burst of sensation in my veins. Up my spine. I cringed. "Are you?" He asked again. I looked up, and reliezed...
It was his lips that brushed across my head. My eyes must have been wide, or something, because Aaron smiled a bit. It hurt inside. At the same time I felt happy. A feeling that had long since been numb. This boy, was a driven individual. "I'm...okay...I think..." I managed to mutter. His smile widened. "I thought you were dead from shock or something. You take a while to answer." That little crack hurt a bit too.
Astonishing, was one of the only words I could find at the time to describe the city. Large, glasses buildings that reached toward the sky. Sidewalks that seemed to go on forever. People that lined up in front of buildings, and walking along the sidewalk without a glance toward another soul. Including us. To amazed to speak, I began to gasp. "Oh my!" I shouted, "Look there!" Stores, plentiful and brillant. The sun shone over the town making it sparkle. There was no word to describe this bussling place. Or maybe, too many.
"This place is HUGE!" Aaron chuckled. I could feel his word shaking. Like they would when someone was crying, but I knew he wasn't. Hope and fear coated his sentence. Hope of a new chance, and fear of messing it up. My face felt warm. Looking at his wide blue eyes turned toward the city was a sight. Slivers of sunlight bounced off the icy color of his eyes. When I could have been enjoying the veiw of the future...I enjoyed the veiw of him.
"Don't you think this is..." He turned back toward me. His facial expression was straight and as I subconciously stepped closer, it turned into a small smile. "Meggie..." If he said something other than that it didn't pass my mind. My feet had a mind of their own. I kept walking. That muscle in my jaw contracted again. Smiling, I placed my head into his chest.
I hadn't reliezed what I had done until it was too late. But even then I didn't move. Something was holding me against his chest. His arms held on.
I have not been abandoned...
"HEY!" A booming voice caught me off guard. I almost fell. Turning my head, I saw a police officer in black attire. He looked more like a preacher with a hat and goatee. "Yes sir?" Aaron seemed calm. I was almost pretty sure this wasn't the first time he had met with the justice force. Hearing the word "sir" come out of his mouth was a small shock though.
"You kids-aren't you supposed to be in school?" the man asked. I looked toward a large sign on a market window. It held a calender that stated-"Saturday 23rd".
"But sir! It's a Saturday!" I informed.
He cackled like I was the stupidest person in the world. That I just told him that the sky was burgendy. "HA! Little lady! You can't pull that one on me! We haven't had a weekend since...Oh god...9 years ago!" My eyes widened.
"What?!" I accidently shouted. Aaron elbowed my rib cage. Covering my mouth wouldn't save me now. I had never barked something like that. Being the shy one, the one that would never speak her mind, I never expected someone like me to do something like that. "Watch it girl." The police officer pointed his finger to me. Just a like a mother or something stupid like that. I bowed my head. Keeping my mouth shut.
"Sorry sir. We'll be going now." Aaron saved. I thanked him secretly. "Okay...but if I catch you again, you're going to get more than a small warning." the man threatened. Then, watching him walk off, I sighed. Being that I hadn't taken a breath since I had blurted out. But then I felt Aaron's stare on my head. Forcing myself to look up wasn't the easiest thing to do. His head eclisped the sun and he looked heavenly or like that.
"What was that about?" Now that I knew was coming. I couldn't move my stare though. Retreating was just so much easier. "I didn't..." was all I could get myself to say.
He didn't let his gaze leave me, but he took my hand. The sensation of being electricuted and excitement hurried up up my spinal cord. "Come on. We have to make sure we aren't noticed...And we have to find...ourselves I guess." He said. Aaron turned and dragged me along the sidewalk like a dog on a leash. We didn't say a word until he suddenly stopped. I ran right into his back as he stared up toward the top of a large brick building. I shook my head a bit and stared toward it with him.
Bowing his head he let go of my hand. "Ya know...this used to be my house...or where it was..." I couldn't comfort him. I just didn't know how.
Suddenly a large SLAM rang in our ears. There was a young woman with shoulder-length brunette hair and fair skin. Her clothes were vintage I guess, and she was wearing tons of accessories and charms. She had a cell phone up to her ear and nodding her head slowley listening to the other line. Her face was stern and she kept her eyes on the ground as she walked past us. Aaron lifted his head and opened his eyes wide. This way I hadn't seen before.
"Oh gosh..." Aaron whispered to himself. I kidna didn't get what was going on, so when he began to follow her, I got in line. The lady walked fast. Her feet were light in the blue low-cut Converse she wore. Secretly complimenting them she stopped suddenly. "Hold on-" I heard her mutter into her phone. I could feel my heart beat against my chest. She seemed so familar and so secretive. It felt like I knew this woman.
"What is it?" The lady had turned around and put the phone to her shoulder. Aaron stared straight at her, examining her every little bit he could. Inside I was about to tell him to stop and that he was making a fool of us. "Escuse me, what's your name?" He asked. She looked puzzled but answered, "Meggie."
My heart flew right into my throat.
