*Jessica*

            The dingy yellow bus pulled to a stop and its occupants lurched in their seats. This thing needs new brakes, thought 16-year-old Jessica Parker as she pulled her shoulder length dark hair up into a ponytail. Grabbing her tote bag from the floor with one hand she unbuckled with the other and followed the others. Her youth group was on its way to the state building in Indianapolis; while their youth pastor, Sean, gassed the bus up the teens trooped out to stretch their legs.

            Talking and laughing the teens filed out of the bus. But when Jessica reached the bus door one of her best friends, Amber, cracked a really funny joke. Turning around to laugh with her friend Jessica’s foot slipped on the step. Flying forward she let loose a scream and prepared to meet the gravel.

            She never did.

            Some of the guys in the group were standing a few feet away from the bus and one happened to turn around just as Jessica fell. His name was Ghrey and he was just in time; she dropped right into his arms, breathing hard, and then looked up into lake blue eyes.

            He stared back and a few moments later said, “You ok?”

            She blinked and licked her dry lips. “Y-yeah, I guess, now I am. Thanks, a lot.” Her face reddened when she realized she still held onto his arms. She released her grip.

            Ghrey likewise let go of his grip and smiled. “Good. Man, that was close.”

             Feebly Jessica nodded and walked over to her friends, who were trying hard to keep straight faces. They’d seen Ghrey catch her, and they also saw that he was following her with his eyes. Finally Amber could take no more and burst out, “That was perfect timing!” Jessica’s two other friends, Ann-Lee and Olivia, joined Amber in her laughter.

            Horrified that her friend might’ve made that shout ring across the universe Jessica turned around to see if Ghrey had heard. But even if he had it was clear that is friends were teasing him, too. She saw them laughing and punching his arm, but she also noticed that he didn’t care. So why should she?

            Turing back to her friends she shrugged and, mocking their laughter, said, “Haha, laugh all you want to.” This just made them giggle more but Jessica knew they weren’t trying to be mean. They laughed at almost everything; funny or not.

            Just then Sean walked over and addressed the group. Sean Conner was of average height, muscular, and had red-brown hair that he always kept crew-cut. He’d recently decided to grow a goatee, and all the teens had fun teasing his wife, Mary, about it. Sean had been the youth pastor of the Lamb’s Church youth group for over two years; everyone loved him and his teaching.

            “Alright, everyone,” he said, “Time to get back into your vehicle.” Some laughed at his choice of the word ‘vehicle’ but all obliged. Jessica found herself in the corner of a back seat with Amber beside her and Ghrey in the seat directly in front of her.

            This is going to be a long trip, she thought right before Amber stuck an earphone in her ear.

*Ghrey*

            The bus screeched to a stop and the people inside jostled into each other. “This thing must’ve been made before brakes were invented,” muttered 17-year-old Ghrey Phillips while running a hand through his light brown hair and waiting for the teens in front of him to get out.

            When it was finally his turn Ghrey leaped out of the bus with a shout and landed next a group of his friends, Dan, Nick, Charlie and Sam. “Dude it’s a miracle my legs can still function!” He laughed, and his friends agreed with him.

            Just as he was going to joke about the condition of the bus 16-year-old Dan Jergon slapped Ghrey’s arm and pointed. Ghrey, the only one in the group of guys who wasn’t facing the bus, wondered what was wrong and had just turned around when a girl in jeans and a red hoodie dropped into his arms.

             He stopped himself from asking what the heck just happened and said instead, “You alright?” When the girl looked up he realized it was Jessica Parker, Nick’s twin sister.

            She took a moment to catch her breath and then got out, “Y-yeah, I think I am.

T-thanks.” She didn’t sound sure, Ghrey though, but before he could find out Jessica blushed and let go of his arms.

            He tried to laugh. “That was close.”

            Jessica just nodded and started walking away. HE followed the back of her head with his eyes and only turned away from his stare when Nick punched his arm.

            “Nice catch, bro.” Nick said, laughing. The other guys clapped his back, tease him, and laughed as well but he didn’t care. Ghrey knew they were just having fun, so he simply joked with them and didn’t hold it against them.

            At one point the guys heard great laughter from the opposite end of the bus, and Ghrey turned to see some girls hugging and pointing at Jessica whose face was the color of a pink blooming rose. He felt sorry for her but smiled anyway; she looked cute in pink.

            When Sean told them all to climb back in Ghrey looked around for Jessica; he spotted her already seated in one of the back seats. Quickly he tried to get into the bus, but there ere a lot of other teens, and by the time he was able to get to a seat he had to settle for the one in front of her.

*Author's Note: I AM DETERMINED to finish this one! Sorry that I started another story without finishing my others, but I'm hoping to continue those once I'm done with this one. Please rate and comment; thanks for reading!
