I woke up to the smell of pancakes coming from the kitchen. Mom must be cooking, I thought. I got up, took a shower, got dressed and headed downstairs towards the kitchen. I sat down and Mom handed me a plate. "Thanks. Do you always cook a big breakfast in the morning?" She looked at me, confused. "The only way to have a good day is by having a good breakfast, sweetie," she answered and kissed the top of my blonde hair. "I'm gone. have a good day!" "You too, Mom," and she walked out the door.
I finished my scrumcious pancakes and put my plate in the sink. BEEP!! I looked over at the wooden front door, puzzled. I wonder who that is? I went to the window, pulled up the mini blinds. and looked to see who it was. Marissa was sitting in the driveway, waving for me to get in the car. I ran upstairs, grabbed my bookbag and jacket and headed back downstairs. I grabbed my house key off the china cabinet and got my lunch money Mom had left on the coffee table in the living room. I walked out of the house and locked the door behind me.
I ran to the passanger side door, opened it and got in. "I didnt know you were gonna pick me up," I said while putting my seatbelt on. Marissa pulled out of the driveway and headed towards school. "Well, it beats riding the bus." i laughed and shook my head in agreement. "Yeah." I sat there for a minute thinking of Ben. "Did you give Ben my phone number yesterday?" I smiled and looked in her direction. "Maybe?" I laughed. "Good thing you did. He asked me to go to dinner and a movie on Saturday!" I said very excited. She looked in my direction and smiled. "I know." I looked at her, confused. How could she know? Did I tell her and forgot? Marissa saw how confused I was, "He's my cousin. When he found out I was hanging out with you, he called and BEGGED me for your number." She laughed, "I warned him to be nice too. So if he isnt, tell me and ill beat him black and blue." She smiled and parked her beat up old car into the parking space. "Oh. Well that makes sense. He's totally sweet, so dont worry about it." I stepped out of the car, bookbag and jacket in hand.
We walked to the front of the school, side by side, talking about the conversation Ben and I had the night before on the phone. I walked with her to her locker and we walked to class, skipping my locker because I didnt need anything for my next class. We walked inside and sat down in our seats, still talking about Ben. Marissa looked up and I glanced to see what she was looking at. Standing beside me, was the handsome prince himself, looking much cuter in his blue jeans and red shirt then yesterday. "Good Morning." I looked up at him, "Good morning to you too." He smiled and sat in his seat, which was in front of mine. The bell rung and class began.
*********************************************************
Marissa caught up with me as I was heading towards my locker for my Spanish book. "BOO!" she said and I jumped up. She laughed, an evil laugh and put her hand on my shoulder. "Your so funny!" I looked at her like she had said the most dumbest thing in the world and smiled, trying to get my breath back. "Oh yeah, watching me jump in dear is funny." I laughed and we walked to class. We sat down just as the bell rung. Miss Smith walked in, looking happy in her beige dress and orange hair tied up in a bun. "OK. Everybody settle down. Now, pass your homework up and I'll collect it." I got my homework out and passed it up front. "Dang! I forgot about it," Marissa whispered to me as she sat up straight. I laughed. "Haha!" I said and she flipped me off, but was smiling.I shook my head and looked towards the front. Through most of the class I either took notes or daydreamed about Ben. Our phone conversation was so fun last night. I felt like I knew him for years. I just couldn't WAIT for our dinner and a movie Saturday. "Miss Stokes...Miss Stokes?" I snapped out of it, looking up at the teacher, who was apparently calling me name. "Miss Stokes, are we OK?" "Yes ma'am." She turned around and walked up to the board, starting to write our homework we had to do for tonight. Marissa looked at me and laughed. I rolled my eyes and wrote down the homework. I guess I really was excited about my date with Ben. I smiled as I put my books into my bookbag. I couldnt wait for my date with Ben.
