Chapter Eighteen

We got to the park and nobody was there. 'Perfect!' I thought and we headed towards the swings. I hopped onto the swing. "Want me to push you?" Ben asked and went behind me and pushed me, high, like I was flying in the sky. "Ahh, not too high!" and I laughed as he pushed me higher. It felt like hours that he pushed me on the swings, making me feel five again. "OK, stop. Let's go to the lake." "OK," and Ben grabbed me around the waist and made me slow down. When I slowed down enough, I jumped off and started walking towards the lake. "I'll beat you!" I said to Ben and I took off. "Oh no you don't!" and he ran after me. Just as we got to the water, he grabbed me by the waist and I was down. We rolled in the grass, inches away from the lake. Then we we're in that akward position, that all Romance movies have the characters get in. He looked into my eyes for a very long time. I was also staring into his brown, adventurous eyes. They we're beautiful. Then he kissed me. It seemed to go on for a long time, but then it stopped. We opened our eyes and we smiled at each other. "Wanna go swimming?" He said in a sexy whisper. "Let's go," and we got up and headed over to the little cliff. Then I jumped in.

I must have jumped so far up, that when I hit the water, I fell into the water, deep. I was swimming and swimming but I felt like I couldn't get up to the surface. I swam and swam my hardest, but couldn't swim anymore. I was so tired. Then I felt a hand grab mine and I was finally breathing air. "Kat, Kat, are you OK?" I opened my eyes and saw Ben looking at me worry and concern. "Yeah, I must have jumped in too hard. I couldn't swim anymore." He sighed really big, "Thank God. I couldn't find you," and he hugged me in the water. "You wanna go take a walk before we head to your house?" I nodded my head and we both swam for shore. We got out and we shook, looking like dogs, to get the dripping water off. Then he took my hand and we walked around the lake. "Let's not jump off the cliff anymore, OK?" I laughed, "Sounds like a good idea."

I looked around the park. The green, pine trees were taller then last time. The sun was shining brightly, through the trees. It was warm today, again. That's a thing I liked about Flordia. Warm all the time. "So, do you think your mom will let me eat at your house?" I smiled at him, "Anytime," and Ben smiled and squeezed my hand tighter. "So, are you ever going back to visit your dad?" Ben looked at me then back to the dirt path. "I don't know. Maybe in a few years. Or during the summer, but not right now. Why you ask?" Ben smiled and looked at me again. I remembered how I loved his smile. "I was thinking we could go together. Maybe...like, uh, so I could meet your dad, or, uh something." He said stumbling out his words, "But that's only, if you uh, want to, that is," I laughed at him. He was funny when he didn't know what to say. "What?" he said and I stopped walking. "I think that would be a good idea." I smiled at him and quickly gave him a peck on the lips. "Good, because I like road trips," he said as he dangled his keys from his hands. I laughed again, "By car? OK, but you're driving!" and I ran from him. "I'm not racing after you this time." I stopped and turned around to see that Ben was headed towards me. "Liar!" and I ran to the car. I opened the door and quickly got in before he could get me. I locked all the door too. "Hey! That's not fair. Open the door Kat," Ben said trying to open the door and hystarically laughing at the same time. I opened the door and he climbed in. "Good thing you opened the door." I raised my eyebrows at him, "And why is that?" I said. "Well, I would have had to hurt you," and he reached over and kissed me. "Now, on to your house." and he cranked the car and we left.

When we got to my house, Marissa ran outside. I quickly got out, "What's wrong??" and Marissa bent over, trying to catch her breath. "Oh...My......Gosh, You...won't believe what happened...on Degrassi," and she smiled. "Oh, I'm gonna get you!" I said and she ran as I ran after her into the house. When inside, I gave her a playful push, "Don't scare me, loser!" "I will, if I want too. And I'm not a loser!" then she walked into the kitchen laughing.

I smelt the air. 'Hmm, Meatloaf,' I thought, and walked into the kitchen. And sure enough, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, and peas were sitting in four plates on the table. "Come in here and eat you guys! I made a very special meal." We all looked at each other and gave my mom a confused looked. I walked to my seat slowly, looking at her wondering, 'what is special about this dinner?' I sat down. Then Ben and Marissa sat down. My mom went over to her seat and sat down. "Well, you guys. This actually is special for Marissa. Hun, I got something very important to tell you." Marissa looked at me, all of us still very confused. "Yes, Mrs. Stokes?" My mom smiled, and I knew it was something good. "Well, I've thought about it and I've already talked to your mother and, well...."
