Chapter Eleven:

We finished our food and headed out to the car. "I thought you were going to get Marissa something to eat," looking at him confused. "Yeah, before we came home." He smiled and we both got into the car. "Well, where are we going then?" "Another surprise of mine and this time your mom didn’t pick it out." He smiled and we headed down the road. We drove for a long time, talking about nothing in particular. When we finally arrived, we got out and there was a park in front of us. Ben looked over at me and smiled. "This way," and we met at the front of the car. He held my hand all the way until we got to the swing set. We both sat in a swing, side by side. "So," I said, smiling at him like a fool," Why did we come here?" He looked at the sky, "It’s my favorite spot. I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid," then he stood up and took my hand. We walked around the lake, which was really big and had a dirt trail going all the way around it. When we went all the way around the lake, Ben turned and looked at me. "I was wondering, can you swim?" I looked at him, confused, again. "Yeah, why?" "Oh nothing." Then Ben did the unthinkable. He pushed me in the lake! I came up from the water, breathing heavy and smiling. "What did you do that for?" "You said you could swim." He laughed and jumped in after me.

We got out of the lake, dripping from head to toe. We were laughing like crazy. Ben ran to his car and got us some towels. Apparently, he had this planned. "Here," he said and wrapped the towel around me. He got his towel and we headed for the lake. We sat down a couple yards away from the lake. He held me from behind. His towel wrapping us both up. We looked at the sun setting. It was so beautiful. "You know? Today has been great." Ben said and he smiled at me. "I know. I didn’t expect to have this much fun here." I laughed and looked up at the sky. The colors of dark blue, orange, and pink swirl in the sky. The bright orange sun was setting and fast. I wanted to stay in this moment forever. RING!!! RING!!! Ben looked down at his pocket. He checked to see who it was and quickly put it back in his pocket. "Nobody important." He smiled at me and I laid my head on his chest.

When the sun finally set, Ben turned to me. "I know you don’t want to go, but I think Marissa is going to be super hungry and your mom is going to be worried." He laughed and we got up. When I got up, the wind blew cold air over me and I started shivering. "Let’s go to the car and I’ll get you a blanket." I nodded my head and followed him to the car. He got the blanket and wrapped it around me. "Thank you," and I slid into the passenger. Ben’s face came to mine and he kissed me very lightly. Then, he shut my door and got into the drivers seat. I was shivering really bad, so Ben buckled me up. I smiled at him, "Thank you." "Ah, anytime," and he started the car. "Hey do you mind calling and asking Mar what she wants and from where?" "Sure," and I took the phone from him. I looked in the phone and searched for Marissa’s name. I found it and pressed Send. It rung three times before she answered, "Hello?" "Hey, Marissa. It’s Kat. Ben and I are fixing to head home. We were wondering, what do you want to eat and from where?" "Um, I guess McDonald’s is OK. I’ll take...a cheeseburger and a small fry." "OK, we’ll get" "No. I’m not finished, I also want an apple pie and a milkshake. Mmm." I laughed, "Hungry much?" "Ah, just a little," and she laughed. "OK. Are you sure that’s all?" "Yep, just get me that and I’ll be set." "OK, Marissa. We’ll be there in a few." "OK. Bye." "Bye," and I hung up the phone. Ben looked at me then looked back at the road, "So, what did she want?" "Um, a cheeseburger, small fry, apple pie, and a milkshake." Ben laughed, "God, she’s gonna eat a freaking cow!" I laughed and shook my head in agreement. Marissa is defiantly back to her old self. There is no doubt about it.
