My Own Demise: Part 4
|
I didn't go to school the next day so that I could be with Jay. This being the second time I had ditched my classes I didn't feel as bad. The thrill of knowing that I was going to get high again. Having the whole day with Jay... It made it all seem worth while.
I got smart this time, I had my mother call the school to tell them of my absence before she left for work. They wouldn't be home untill late, so I had the whole day to do as I pleased.
My teachers didn't know that I wasn't really sick from my monthly. And what they didn't know, wouldn't kill them, right?
As for my sister Tiffany, a rebellious fifteen year old wouldn't care what I did as long as I stayed out of her business.
So for the day I was free.
After everyone had left for work and school I jumped into the shower to get ready for my upcoming adventure. I took special care with my make-up and hair. I didn't want to look like a prep.
I put black eyeliner around my blue eyes, dark purple shadow and thick mascera. Pulling my hair up high I formed a messy half ponytail.
Most of my clothes screamed "rich girl". I knew if I wanted to fit in with Jay's crowd I would have to start dressing the part.
Promising myself that I would go to the mall as soon as possible, I dug out one of my old rock band tees and with a little cringe, I made myself cut a couple holes into an old pair jeans. Paired with a new pair of converses, I looked pretty hot.
Groupie hot I'd like to think. I liked it.
Jay got to my house around ten. I ran out, purse slung over shoulder and hopped into his beat up blue cavelier. "Hey!" I said winded from the run.
"Hey yourself." he said giving me the once over.
"I don't look so preppy now do I?" I asked looking up at him with my dark rimmed eyes.
"No you don't look preppy." he said with satisfaction.
He didn't have to tell me that he liked the new me because I could see it in his eyes. We drove downtown, radio blaring, windows rolled down.
"Look in the back." Jay told me not taking his eyes off the road."I got you a suprise."
"Ooooo what is it?" I asked and without waiting I turned around, one knee propped up on the seat cusion, butt in the air. I could feel his eyes on me as I reached for the paper sack. My shirt raising up as I reached, showing my middle.
Obtaining the sack I turned back around and sat into the seat again. I looked over at Jay and he gave me a smile and then returned his vision towards the road ahead.
Pulling the bottle out of the sack my stomach turned into knots. He had gotten me vodka.
"Thanks." I said not able to hide the nervousness from showing in my voice.
"You like vodka right?"
"Yeah, sure. I just don't want to get hammered." I lied thinking back to the first and only time that I had drank hard liquor.
One glass of the nasty tonic and I threw up all over one of the rose bushes in the back of one my friend's house. I was humilated that I couldn't be tough and hold my booze like the other kids. Lucky for me Kelly, tender hearted soul that she was, took me inside cleaned me up and spent the rest of the night drinking wine coolers with me.
While the rest of the girls at the slumber party got so drunk they passed out, we got tipsy and had alot of laughs.
But, that one time didn't mean anything. I'd just have to force the vile liquid down untill the taste didn't matter. I opend the clear bottle and took a sniff at the opening while Jay wasn't looking. It didn't smell that bad, maybe the taste wouldn't be bad either.
Boy was I wrong!
I took a big swig, swallowing fast. The clear fluid burning the back of my mouth and down my throat. I tried hard not to cough, but I couldn't control it.
"Oh my God it burns!" I exclaimed eyes watering.
Jay laughed and patted me on the knee.
"A couple more drinks and you won't even notice." he assured me. Putting the bottle opening to my mouth once more, his hand resting on my leg. It gave me courage to do as he said.
I took another drink.
