The Blood That Would Save the World
|
You wake up one day and turn on the news as your getting ready for work. You notice that they are doing a story about a new plague that is spreading across the Orient. You make a note of it and then go on about you day not paying much attention to it. You get home and spend time with you family. As you go to bed you turn on the news and see that that plague had spread to the eastern part of Europe. You start to think that it might reach the US. You still don't think much about it and go to sleep.
The next day you wake up and as you usually do, you turn on the news as you get dressed. Again the Story about the plague is on. This time you pay attention to the story and find out that there is no known cure to the plague you also find out that the plague has spread to Western Europe. This makes you think that what if it actually gets to the US? What you happen to you? What would happen to you family and friends? With this on you mind you go to work.
When you go home you turn on the news and find out that there has been reported break outs all over the US. You stand there and are mystified by what you have just heard. Then you hear that they have found an antidote. They have found that a rare type of blood has been found to counter act the plague. They beg everyone that is listening to go and get yourselves tested.
The next morning you take your wife and son to the local hospital. When you arrive, you are taken aback by the number of people that are congregating outside the hospital. You want in line for what seems like days when in reality is only about 4 hours. Once you are tested, the nurses tell you to wait outside as your blood is tested. For an additional 6 hours you stand outside and wait. As you wait you are hoping that nothing happens to you or your family.
At about 5 o’clock that night the doctor comes out and is shouting that they have found someone with the blood type that is required. At first you only hear the roar of the crowd. As the doctor gets closer, you hear that they are calling the name of your son. You move to get to the doctor and call out that you have the person that they seek. As you move through the crowd, the people start to cheer, pat you on the back, and move out of your way. When you reach the doctor you are extremely ecstatic. He comes up to you and asks, “are you the person?” You reply, “no, it is my son,”. Upon hearing this the doctor gets a sad look on his face. Both your wife and you see his reaction and start to look at each other. But before you can ask, you are ushered into the hospital.
Once you reach the room you pull the doctor aside and ask, “how much blood are you going to need”. The doctor looks at you and you can see discuss in his eyes. He looks at you with a sober face and says, “we didn’t know that he was going to be so little. We’re going to have to take all of it.” At first you are in disbelief of what you just heard. You think that it was a lie. Then it hits you in the face like a baseball bat hitting the ball. You will have to make the choice to give up your son to save the world or you can take the path of not letting the something hurt your son. You ask for a moment to be long with your son.
Your son looks up at you with his loving and trusting eyes and asks, “what is going on?” You find yourself unable to speak for a long moment. Then you find yourself saying, “it will be ok. There going to put you to sleep”. Your son looks up at you and says, “ok”. So you say good bye to him and are ushered out of the room.
Just as this father had to make the decision to give up his son, God made that same decision to give up his son Jesus. He sent his son to the earth to die on the cross for our sins and to provide a way to come to him and spent eternity with him.

Wonderful metaphor.Very touching. Most people don't see that Father and Son connection between God the father and Jesus the son. The Trinity is a hard thing to grasp. Get back with me later and I will give you a few tips that you can use on this. |
