Defying Forever! Pt. 13
|
With a resigned sigh she turned and with only a moment’s hesitation threw them open wide.
He gasped as the light of the sun spilled forth filling his room with it’s brightness for the first time in his life. He waited for the expected agonizing burn but non came. Only the mild warmth spreading across his pale skin.
At the first shot of light he had covered his eyes from the unexpected brightness now squinting he lowered that hand.
His body was in a tumult of emotions. Joy being the triumph of them all. Nothing could fathom the joy he felt at that moment realizing that it was over. His days of being a monster were gone.
He felt a moment’s doubt. Could it really be true? Was forty-seven years of vampirism really gone leaving him to begin in the body he now contained and to age just like all the others? Like Anna?
He looked over to Anna who stood by the window gazing at him with concern. He held out his hand for her to come closer. He watched as the sun’s rays reflected brightly off of Anna’s hair.
She knelt down beside his bed and he grasped her face lightly in his hands tracing the line of her jaw, her nose, her eyes; memorizing every contour of his love’s face.
He laughed lightly, tears coming to his eyes but he refused to allow them to fall. He could not rid the smile from his face as she gazed at him in bewilderment. “My precious rose,” he whispered.
Her brows came together. “What’s the matter?”
“Nothing,” he laughed. “Absolutely nothing!” with that outburst he pulled her to him and kissed her with as much joy he felt.
