Defying Forever! Pt. 10

Creative Created on 2-27-08 Views(210) Story Rating G

      He was in a rage.

After he had revealed the truth to Anna and

practically begged her to not fear him she had calmly asked him to leave her alone and give her time to take it all in.

And that was what he had done.  Left her there sitting on the floor to allow her to think it over.  Get used to the idea.

But before that he had brought her a full meal for he realized she must be hungry after only eating the meal he had left her when he had first awoke.

She had glanced at it and calmly remarked, “no rats?”

This had infuriated him but also saddened him.  He had just shook his head and left the room not able to see the fear and mild disgust that was reflected so clearly in her eyes.

He did not know how but he had ended up in his father’s study and had begun pacing as he had been for the past hour.

He did not know when he could go back to talk to her.  He knew she needed time but how much time was enough.

At that moment the door opened and his mother walked in.  Elva smiled and made her way forward to plop down in one of the leather chairs.

“She did not take it well,” she commented.

He hated how she always did that.  Stated it as a simple fact and not a question.

He stopped his pacing and looked at her.  “No.  She’s afraid of me and asked if I would give her time to think about it,” he resumed walking only to stop at the large marble fireplace and stare blindly into the flames.

He heard Elva sigh.  “I knew it would be like this.  She’s just not ready for it.”

He was silent, his jaw clenching in frustration.

Elva stood and come to stand behind him placing her hand on his shoulder.  “Vayden,” she began when he finally turned to her.  Pity was reflected in her eyes as she gazed up at him.  “It will never work.  Don’t you see!” she cried as he turned away from her in anger and disgust.

“She’s human and not one who holds the blood type.  If you try to change her then it’s very likely that the change will either drive her insane or kill her! But you can’t be with her like it is now.  You’re a vampire for crying out loud Vayden!”

“You think I don’t know that!” he yelled turning to her fury evident in his eyes.  “Don’t you think that’s the only thing that’s been going through my mind since I met her?  I’m a monster! I love her but if I’m not careful it could be so easy to kill her!”

For the first time since he was a child, he wanted to cry and he hated it.  Crying was a weakness.  One he refused to indulge in no matter how great his pain was.

Elva gazed at him for a moment and he hated the emotions he saw flashing through her eyes.  Sadness.  Pity.  Remorse.

“It can never work,” she finally whispered walking to the door.  She stopped and turned to him before leaving.  “Would you rather live knowing she lived a happy and prosperous life or would you rather live knowing you were the one who caused her pain and her death?” with those words she left.

Vayden’s anger was uncontainable.  Lifting a chair he slung it across the room where crashed with a loud boom and splintered apart.  He growled as he slung things from his father’s desk and ripped and tore the furniture apart.  When the haze of his anger began to calm the study was a mess.

Pieces of furniture and stuffing from the cushions and ripped books lay scattered about the room.  It looked horrible and he knew his father’s anger would be great at the sight of it but at that moment he didn’t care.

Nothing seemed to matter anymore.  His mother, he hated to admit it but was right.  It would never work even if she did accept Vayden for what he was.  And his mother’s question seemed to repeat itself over and over in his mind.

He would rather live without her knowing she was happy than live with her knowing he was the reason for her pain or worse…her death.

He swallowed fighting back the agony that seemed to rip forth from his very being.  He did not think he could love someone as much as he loved her but he knew that if his love was true he would let her go.

Raking a hand through his hair he looked up and his gaze stopped.  He had not even noticed that he had ripped the large painting from the wall to reveal a large metal safe.

Vayden placed his hand on the handle and pulled.  With only a moment of creaking the door came loose and he set it down on the floor.  Apparently his father had not anticipated someone actually trying to break into it so he had not found the need to make it in something strong enough to keep out even the strength of a vampire.

His anger was momentarily forgotten as he gazed at the contents.  Well…content.  Sitting in the middle of the safe was a single vile of gold colored liquid.

He knew he probably should be snooping through something his father so obviously did not want anyone to bother but he couldn’t stop himself from taking the small vile in his hand and gazing at the entrancing liquid a story immediately coming to mind from when he was younger.

The story of when his mother had been captured by vampire hunters who were trying so hard to figure out a cure for vampirism.  A cure they had wanted to continue working on by taking his oldest siblings Darius and Luna and experimenting on natural born vampires.

He knew they had gotten the cure from them before destroying their headquarters but he had always assumed their father had destroyed it.  He had told it was a watery liquid substance looking gold like but…could this really be it?

If it wasn’t, why would it be locked away in a safe his father used?  He looked at it his thoughts reeling.

If it worked this could be a way for him and Anna to be together.  But that was the key word ‘if’.  If it worked.

It had been told that the vampire hunters had been close but wanted to use a natural born vampire’s blood to try and perfect it.  Could it work?

He wasn’t sure what to do.  If he took it then there would be a chance that it wasn’t finished and would destroy him or on a more positive outlook, he could spend the rest of his life with Anna.  Something he wanted more than life itself.

He uncorked the bottle and paused.  He would do it…for Anna. Bracing himself he brought the bottle to his lips and swallowed half the contents.
