Defying Forever! Pt. 4
|
The girl did not wake until hours later rubbing her head and gazing around at the abandoned subway in confusion.
When he saw the sudden brightness of her emerald eyes he leaned across where she lay upon a metal bench. “Are you all right?” he questioned quietly.
She rubbed her hand across her face and blinked up at him. “What happened?”
“You feinted. I think it may have been from shock.”
He stepped away as she sat up and looked around.
“So it wasn’t a dream. I really did get caught on a train track and almost get ran over.”
He nodded.
She buried her face into her hands and groaned. “I’m such an idiot.”
He smiled. “Maybe.”
She looked at him incredulously but then she smiled and shook her head standing. She wobbled on her feet but before he could help her she steadied herself.
“What time is it?” she questioned.
“An hour till daylight,” he replied.
She gasped. “Aww crap! My parents are gonna’ kill me! I need to get home.”
He nodded. “I’ll walk you there.”
“What?” she questioned.
“I said I’ll walk you there.”
“Uhh t-that’s not exactly necessary.” She suddenly appeared nervous.
He rolled his eyes. “Calm down little Rose. I’m just going to walk you home.”
“How did you know I like to be called Rose?”
“I heard the blue haired girl call you by it. A very unusual name I must say,” he said.
She gave a very unladylike snort. “I know four other girls whose either first or middle name is Rose. I even know a guy with the last name.”
He smiled and led her from the abandoned subway and onto the sidewalk where no one roamed. He allowed her to begin walking in the direction of her home before walking up along side of her.
“You know Vaydens an uncommon name,” she commented.
He shrugged no giving any explanation.
They walked in silence for a moment before she began speaking again. “What were you doing down there anyway?”
“Down where?”
“In the subway. Derek said it’s been abandoned for a little over ten years. What were you doing down there?”
She shrugged again. “I like exploring,” he replied simply.
“Uh-huh,” she nodded but he could tell she did not believe him. “In the middle of the night?”
He shrugged offering no explanation and she did not pry further.
“Where are you from?” she finally asked feeling uncomfortable.
“Away,” he replied. In truth he did not know where he was from. All he had ever known was the mansion in which he had lived all his life.
“Oh,” there was another moment of uncomfortable silence until she looked up and said. “Aw damn,”
“What is the matter?” he questioned looking in the direction her gaze wondered and saw a large house with what appeared every light in it on.
“I guess they know I’m not home.”
He smiled and walked her till she was safely on her porch.
“Well thanks for walking me…” she began turning but there was no one there or even walking down the street. He was gone.
