Bite Me Beautiful! Pt.14

Creative Created on 7-21-07 Views(536) Story Rating G

She made her way to the top of the stairway where many vampire faces were gazing up at her with smiles on their faces.  She was shocked at how many their actually was here at the mansion.  If she could guess the amount of faces she would guess it would be around fifty or so vampires.

She took a deep breath and took the first step down the stairs putting all of her concentration in not tripping and falling.

Though the wedding was much like the ones of humans there was also many differences.  Despite the red wedding dress when she was accustomed to white.  There was also the fact that there were no groomsmen or bridesmaid.  Just Demetris’s parents who would be handing them the rings.

And then there was the one thing that she knew was most definitely not apart of a normal wedding.  The exchanging of the blood.  In one part of the wedding they were to each prick their palm and kiss the blood that welled from it.   Slightly creepy but something they were to do.

For a brief moment she wondered when they were declared husband and wife if the man marrying them would say ‘you man now kiss the bride’ or go for something more vampire like ‘you may now bite the bride’.

Her feet reached the bottom step and to the long carpet she was to walk down where Demetris awaited her.

She looked up to see him smiling at her.  She gave a timid smile in return her nerves feeling as though they were going haywire.  She could feel the gazes of the others boring into her but she did not look at them knowing that if she did then she would probably give into her panic and run.

She made it to the end to where Demetris came forward offering his arm.  She intertwined her’s with his and he led her forward to the much older vampire who would be marrying them.  He looked to be in his late thirties but his eyes spoke of many years behind them.

When he began to speak it all became just a blur to her.  The people, the words spoken.  She did not remember anything he said except when it was time for the exchanging of the vows and she repeated after him promising to be with Demetris till the end of her existence.  Not the end of her life for that had ended the moment she had taken Demetris’s blood into her mouth.

Then the man brought forth a small dagger and ordered them to each to hold out their right palms.  She felt the tiny bite of pain against her palm and watched as a drop of blood welled up.

She watched as the man pricked Demetris’s palm and he turned to her.  She did as she was told and brought his palm to her lips to kiss the blood that welled there while he did the same.  The touch of his lips sending shivers through her body.

She fought back the urge to take more than what was meant and pushed his palm away from her lips.  He did the same.  Elva did not meet Demetris’s eyes even though she could feel his gaze boring into her face.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife,” said the man.  “You may now kiss your bride.”  Kiss not bite.

Demetris placed his left hand beneath her chin to tilt her face up to his to have his cold lips descend upon hers.

She wanted the kiss to go on forever and she did not care about the audience they had but that was not to be.  Seconds into the kiss they were immediately surrounded and pulled apart by well wishers.

Elva pulled one way and Demetris the other.

Elizabeth drew Elva into a tight embrace holding her closely.  “I’m so glad you went through with it!” she whispered fiercely in her ear.  “I could tell you were only minutes away from running.”

“Of course you could,” muttered Elva in return.

Elizabeth laughed delightedly and Elva turned only to be embraced by others she had not even met yet.

She was smiling politely as she listened to one of the woman vampires tell about her shock at seeing Demetris come back with Elva unconscious in his arms.

“I tell you we were in such a shock when Demetris didn’t come back to the mansion in over a week.  We were worried that the others had gotten him or even the werewolves but then he shows up like nothing’s wrong with you in his arms!” she laughed as if it was the greatest joke in the world.  “But…” her words stopped as she glanced behind Elva.

Elva felt someone tap her shoulder to see the man who had married her and Demetris smiling politely at her.

“May I have a word with you?” he asked.

“Uhhh…”Elva turned to see that the woman had gone.  “Sure.”

He smiled and led her near the back of the room to one of the seats where the others had sat but were now empty.

When they sat he did not speak just sat gazing at her.  Elva glanced down at her now fidgeting hands gazing at the silver wedding band, with diamond lining throughout it now resting on her left ring finger.

“Today is truly a day to rejoice,” he spoke.

     She looked up and smiled.

“My wife died not long ago,” he began.  “Beautiful she was.  I loved her much but it was time for her to go.”  Sadness filed his voice.

She was shocked that he would speak about something like this to her, a complete stranger.

“Yes I’m talking about this with you because I think you’re a person I can trust,” he said smiling fondly at her.  “I’m going to tell you something that no one here knows because none of them are old enough to remember. Promise not to tell?”

     “Alright,” she whispered feeling confused.

“I was once king of the vampire.  Many, many years ago.  Way before the king and queen now.  Demetris is one of my grandsons and if you don’t mind I would prefer not to tell you how many greats are in front of that.”

     “You were king?” she questioned.

He nodded. “And my wife who died just six years ago was one of the women like you.  I’ll tell you now.  You do not realize how special your gift actually is.  You see the vampires around you now?” he questioned.

She gave a brief glance around the room before returning her gaze to him and nodding.

“This is all that’s left of us except for maybe the twenty or thirty of the others that we have been in war against.  When I was king, our numbers ran in the hundreds.  This shows you how important you really are to all of us.  We are feared yes, but we’re peaceful creatures and none of us want to see our existence disappear forever and now that you have been discovered you give us hope.”

     She remained silent thinking.

“I see I’ve given you much to think about.”

She nodded then looked at him sudden curiosity filling her.  “How many children did you have?”

“One hundred and three,” he replied simply.

Her eyes widened and her breath caught.  “O-One hundred,” she gasped.

“And three,” he nodded smiling amusedly at her expression.  “We had our last one in the year 1612.”

“How old are you?” she questioned incredulously.

He chuckled and patted her hand. “You can’t expect an old vampire to give away his age now can you?”

She smiled then grimaced as the number echoed in her head once again.  “They don’t expect me to have that many do they?”

He shrugged.  “It’s really not up to them but I’ll tell you if me and my wife had been able to have more then we would have.”

     “B-but a hundred and three.  Honestly…I can’t…”

He laughed. “Do not worry my dear.  You and your husband decide how many you want…not the others.  Now I believe our conversation is coming to an end for I think that’s your new husband heading our way.”

She turned and indeed Demetris had tore his self from the crowd and was making his way to them she turned back to the older vampire who was smiling at her.

“Treat him well, and think about some of the things I’ve told you.  Remember how important you are.”

She nodded and he hugged her before they both stood.  By this time Demetris had reached them.

“Frederic,” Demetris nodded to the man I had been speaking to.  It was then that I realized I had been talking to him all this time and had not gotten his name.

“Demetris,” he acknowledged.  “Take care of this one.  She’s something special.”

Demetris smiled and took her arm to interlace it with his. “Yes I know and now I hope you don’t mind if I steal her away from you?”

     Frederic chuckled.  “Go, go!”

Demetris pulled her along beside him and away from Frederic.  She turned slightly to say goodbye to him but he was no longer there.
