"Casey, where are you taken me?" she asked innocently, as they turned off another county road heading toward the main highway.
Casey looked at her out of the corner of his eye, relieved that she's away from her horrifling mother. "Now Lucnell can start her own life, a happy life" he thought to himself silently.
Placing a hand over her's he held onto it gently, "Lucnell, I'm taken you far away from this town, from your mother. Have trust in me that I will take care of you, just relax and enjoy the country side lands."
Raising up the consol, Lucnell scooted closer to Casey, resting her head on his shoulder, "Thank you I don't know how I will ever repay you for what you've done for me." she said gently.
Wrapping his arm around her, hugging her comfortly, "No need to repay me Lucnell, I was happy to find a way to get you away from your mother. It was horrifling watching the way she treated you, constantly beating you. I couldn't stand the thought of leaving you behind and seeing you being beaten to death."
"Sad thing is Ma has always been that way, she got really worse when Pa got killed. When Pa was around he made sure she didn't do anything to hurt me. But that all changed when we were attacked by a gang. Killing Pa, and Raped Ma. Luckly I was small enough to hide behind the sofa so they couldn't find me or reach me. One thing Pa didn't know, was that gang was Ma's that was her gang that she started, and they all back fired on her when she didn't come up with enough money to pay off her debts. Costing Pa his life." Lucnell said quietly, crying gently at the reminder.
"She's in debt again, and still has that same gang, they are going to come back to find Ma to make her pay the money she owes them. But Ma doesn't have the money and was going to pay off her debt by letting them take advantage of me, and if I didn't obey her she would have them just kill me. Like they did Pa" Lucnell continued telling him.
"How come she didn't go work and come up with the money?" Casey asked confused, and hurting for Lucnell, for what she had to put up with in her life.
"She did work, but she always spent her income on drugs and acholol, until she had nothing left to suport herself." Lucnell told him before she continued, "One of her jobs was getting paid to let guys have sex with her, she cheated on Pa like there was no tomorrow, Pa knew that but the only reason why he didn't just leave her was because of me, and the things she was doing ended up costing his life."
Casey asked her, "Why did your Pa marry her anyways? if he knew she was like that?"
Lucnell shook her head, "They never was married, they were really just friends with benifits, but then Ma got pregent and Pa just moved in with Ma to help suport me. To make sure I was taken care of even if it cost him his life."
Lucnell continued, "I still have flashbacks on that day, seeing Pa being dragged outside, hearing some kind of conversation Pa was having with the guy, and hearing gun shots go off into the air. The placed Pa in the trunk of their car leaving it partly open, I guess so he could get some kind of air, I don't understand why they would do that if he was dead."
Lucnell got quiet and kept repeating the last words, "If he was dead?"
Hoped filled him, what if her Pa wasn't dead, what if they just put on a sence to look like he was killed? Casey was determind to find out what really happened to her Pa.
Thinking back on what Lucnell told him, he thought to himself, "If they left the trunk door open so he could get air, he's really not died, he didn't get killed that day...there's still hope that I can get Lucnell safely to her Pa."
Casey heard light snores, looking at Lucnell she had fell asleep, sleeping peacefully. Gently he turned on the radio not wanting the noise to wake her, before he sat back and thought of a way to find her Pa.
