Pastor Eric 1

            I knew Eric ever since I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. I clearly remember when my best friend Kathy first introduced me to him at the homecoming football game. She had told me that she met a guy during Marching Band that she really liked and she wanted my approval on him. So during the third quarter of the game she introduced me to him.

            First thing that everyone notices when they meet Eric is that he is tall. I myself am not a short person by any means, but Eric simply towered above me. Kathy introduced us and Eric looked down on me and said “Hi,” very softly. The very corners of his mouth turned upwards in a smile for a second. I could tell that he was trying to be friendly, but he was very shy about meeting people.

            Somehow I knew immediately that this guy was perfect for my best friend.

            The following day I left to go to Hawaii. When I came back I learned that Eric had asked Kathy out and that they were now a couple. I was so happy for Kathy and she was ecstatic! And so for the next few months I got to know Eric a lot more through Kathy.

            I know where everyone things that this is going. That I may have ended up having my own little crush on Eric. That is not true. I could never have imagined anyone other than Kathy ever being with him; Or for that matter, Kathy being with any other man.

No, to me Eric became something of a big brother. He was a very loyal friend. Such loyalty many people did not quit understand at times, but his close friends and family did. I did. But there will be more on that coming up.
