Nick could barely stand so there was no point taking his arms off my waist, he would just stumbled to the ground.

“Why are you sorry?” I asked putting my hands on his shoulders

“Because, I didn’t say I loved you when it mattered”

“It’s not your fault, don’t worry”

“Yeah I guess your right, you’re with Brad” Nick said pulling me in for a hug

“I still care about you, I don’t think I can ever stop caring,” I confessed starting to dance with Nick on the dance floor.

We stood there swaying to the song. The song was a great song maybe not the best to slow dance to but I still like it. Marianas Trench- Skin and

 Nick and me started to dance real close; I had my head on his shoulder while Nick’s arms where around my waist. Even though. We were slowly spinning around the room, until I saw Brad staring at me from the stairs he was looking directly into my eyes, he seemed really mad. Brad walked upstairs hinting me to follow him, I didn’t really have a choice I didn’t want Nick and Brad to fight.

“Hey I’ve got to go the bathroom,” I said pulling away from Nick

“Can I have a dance later though?” Nick shouted as I made my way upstairs

I saw Brad waiting at a bedrooms door, he still seemed angry but I knew if I didn’t talk him out of his mood someone would get hurt. Brad saw me coming and opened the door, now he was leaning on the wall waiting for me.

“You waiting for me?” I asked looking at him

“No I was waiting for the Easter bunny, you going to get in or not?”

“Um Okay”

Before he followed me in the room I saw him look to see if anyone was watching…

“So what’s wrong?” I asked him backing away from him, near the window.

“I saw you with Nick, are you dating him again!” Brad shouted walking to me so I couldn’t run anywhere.

“We where just dancing, it was nothing I promise”

To tell you the truth I didn’t know why I was explaining to him, I wasn’t his girlfriend it wasn’t like I cheated on him or anything. As I was explaining to Brad it was like I wasn’t talking it was all my conscious I didn’t want anyone to get hurt or anyone to find out what he’s been doing.

“You’re a liar, I saw both of you!” Brad shouted

I looked out the window, which I was now pushed up against. I saw Nick; He must have been looking up at us. Nick mouthed something but I couldn’t understand what, I just kept staring into his eyes. I think he could see that I was in trouble, but I had no time to notice if he was still looking when Brad slapped me.

“What the fuck!” I shouted at him

“Shut up” He shouted back at me punching into my stomach

I fell to the floor nearly in tears it felt like a knife went through my stomach. Brad looked at me and started to kick me in the ribs, I knew he could hurt me but come on nothing this serious. I was in a lot of pain I had tears coming down my face and it only got worse, when Brad kicked me about 8 times he climb onto of me.

“Please stop Brad!” I cried in pain

“Shut up” He shouted slapping my face

I laid there on the cold wooden floor while Brad un-buttoned my jumpsuit. He had the top half down and started on my shorts when I to kick him off. Brad started to get sick of me kicking him so he stood up and started to kick me in my ribs again. He kicked me about six times before Nick burst through the door.

“What the fuck, are you doing here?” Brad shouted turning to face Nick

“Get off her!”  Nick shouted back punching Brad across the face making him fall to the ground.

I blacked out from the pain after getting beaten badly, but the last thing I saw was Nick hammering is fists into brad face, which made me smile. I woke up in a hospital bed with Nick and Blaze around me. Blaze was holding my hand sitting next to my bed and Nick was in the corner of the room he looked like he was asleep.

“Hi” I said and I didn’t realise how much it hurt to talk

“Hey, how are you?” Blaze said quietly looking up

“In pain, what happen?”

“We don’t need to talk about that now just relax” Blaze replied kissing my hand

I tried to push myself up on the bed but it was way too painful. “Just lie down” Blaze told

“Where’s Brad?”

“Hopefully dead!” Nick replied walking up behind Blaze

“Yeah, I’m going to go get some caffeine anyone want any?” Blaze asked before walking out the hospital room.

Nick looked deeply into my eyes before breaking the silence.

“I’m sorry” He spoke softly I could barely hear him

“Why are you sorry none of this is your fault”

Nick started to tear up “Yes it is, I knew you would never go out with Brad”

“None of this is your fault trust me” I replied placing my hand on top of his

“Yes it is! I knew you would never go out with Brad he’s not good enough for you!” Nick said looking up into my eyes again with tears sliding down his cheek.

“It’s not your job to take care of me okay, I don’t blame you”

“I knew that he was rough with girl’s I shouldn’t have let me jealousy get in the way and since I did you got hurt, one of the only people I care about got hurt because of me!” Nick said tensing his hand into a fist; I think he wanted to him something or himself.

“Nick, I… I… care bout you too”

I was speechless he blamed himself for something he couldn’t control. It was simply all my fault I played with Nick’s motions like Brad hurt me. I didn’t know me kissing his ex best friend could do that to him, I guess Nick was sensitive after all.

 “Hailey can I ask you a question?”

“Yeah sure”

“Um… can you forgive me?” Nick asked looking down at his feet

“Forgive you for what?”

“Everything, The skipping school, the party and the Brad stuff. If I had a choice you would never get hurt”

“Nick look at me, I’m in hospital! I’m in the hospital because of Brad not you and for skipping school it was fun, Nick for the time we’ve been friends it has been the greatest a mount of weeks of my life, I should thank you” I shouted as loud as I could but it wasn’t loud at all since my ribs.

All of a sudden Nick leaned over and kissed me gently on my lips, it was so gently I could barely feel his lips at all. “I should probably go”

“Umm sure” I said opening my eyes looking at him pulling his coat on

“Hey can we still be friends?” Nick asked standing at the doorframe

“Defiantly!” I smiled watching him walk down the hall.

I laid there thinking abut the couple of months I’d known Nick and he had seemed to care quite a lot, I cared about him a lot I wanted him to stay and make me feel better but I guess I can’t have it all right?
