Beautifully Broken - Chapter 3
|
Erica awoke to a pounding on her door. Groaning she turned over and looked at her clock through sleepy eyes. She had barely been asleep for two hours. It was nine on a Saturday morning and her mother wanted her up.
Sitting up in her bed she ran a hand through her fiery red hair and yelled, “I’m up, I’m up.” to her closed door. Goll she hated her mother’s constant nagging. Especially since it was summer. Why couldn’t she just understand that Erica wanted to be left alone?
Sighing Erica pulled herself out of bed and grabbed some clothes at random, which ended up being a pair of black cheer shorts, a white tank top, a sports bra, and a black lacy thong. Shrugging at her clothes she headed to her bathroom planning on taking up all the hot water before she got out just to annoy her mother.
After she stepped out of the shower she dried off, got dressed, and pulled her long wavy hair up into a pony tail. She was going for a run. A long, long run that would get her far, far away from her mother. Looking at herself in the mirror she decided against make-up since she was just going to get hot and sweaty anyways.
Slipping on a pair of socks and running shoes she snatched her I-pod up off of her dresser, and turned it on to her special running play list. Heading out of the house she hollered back in the most annoying voice she could muster, “I’m going for a run, and don’t bother to call me!”
It would piss her mother off, and that was her goal so she was willing to do it. Slamming the door behind her she headed down the front walk and down onto the side walk. She was headed towards the bike trail that led five miles to the beach. A perfect location for her to go to.
Veering onto the trail Erica paced herself to the music blasting in her ears. It wasn’t quite ten yet so that meant not very many people would be out yet. Smiling to herself she ran for about half an hour until she reached the beach. She was in good shape so five miles was quick and easy.
Heading to the concession stand she bought a cold water and headed down the beach. At the end was a small woody area, and not many people knew that there was a pier not far into it that was peaceful. It was her other place. When she couldn’t stay home she would come here.
As far as she knew only her twin brother and her knew of the place. And the only reason Jordan knew about it was because before he happened they were very close. Finding it from the small path she had created Erica walked out to the end and sat down taking her shoes and socks off. Letting her feet dangle in the water she sighed at the soothing feeling and leaned back on her hands closing her eyes gently so she could listen to the waves crash against the rocky area around her.
