Grace was left pacing in her room, He was an angel; how could everyone see him then. Was he sent back to protect her from something, to help her find something or someone? She started to reminisce on the time that he had spent with her, the things he had help her with…He had helped her change, to become the person she was before she lost her mother. That was it, he was sent to save her from herself, and he was chosen because he had done exactly the same thing. He helped her live again, Dominic was her Guardian Angel. Grace had never run so fast in her life, she took the stairs three at a time; her force on the door was nearly enough to unhinge it, but all the time there was only one thought, there was only one name…and he was hers.
“Dominic!” She could see his outline faintly walking up the street, his shoulders were slumped and his breathing was labored. “Dominic, don’t leave me!” Thunder rumbled in the dark sky above her and lightening streaked violently lighting up her surroundings, then the rain fell. She always seemed to get herself into these predicaments; when ever she stepped outside with the intent of chasing someone, it bloody rained. Dominic had stopped now but his back still faced her, Her hair clung to her face and loose strands were whip lashed around her by the wind; She had fallen to her knees in the gutter, the cold rain mixed with her salted tears now surging down her face. “Don’t leave me,” she whispered, and then he was at her side. Dominic scooped her up into his arms and kissed one of the tears falling down her cheeks “Never, my love.” His eyes sparkled, dark hair fell across them and shadowed his excitement; the decision had been made, and there was going to be nothing to stop him from taking what she was now willing giving. Grace swiped the wet hair from his face, her fingers trailed his lips catching a droplet of water; she put her finger to her mouth, he tasted sweet and now he was hers for the taking. “Dominic,” She whispered to him, her words muffled by his now wet shirt “I’m sorry I freaked out…I mean it’s just…well a lot to take in,” She smiled softly and he laughed at her.
“Baby; I tried to tell you, didn’t I? Dominic pulled her close to her and wrapped his arms tighter, protecting her from the pelting rain.
“Yeah…yeah you did.” Grace smiled and accepted the safety of his embrace, “Now can you take me home, this wind is killer,” Her voice was husky and full of seduction, she pouted her lips flashed her lashes at him. “Please,” Her sudden change into a seductive temptress made him smile, but it soon faded and the lines on his face became serious
“I Love you Gracie, I always have; right from the moment I seen you and your mother before I died, and I always will. I give myself to you fully, I offer you my protection and my love in hope that you will accept and cherish it.” Dominic nuzzled the soft skin on her neck affectionately and he felt her lips graze his forehead, “I love you Dominic… I really do,” She pulled his face to hers and kissed him lightly, “Now can we go home before we catch a cold…” She eyed him and smiled, “Before I catch a cold,” he laughed at her again but harder this time “You won’t get sick my sweet… but we should probably get you out of those wet clothes,” He smiled and trailed his fingertips down her neck and along the collar of her shirt. He never let her go, not once; not even to open the front gate, or when he opened the front door; he was never going to let her go now that he had her in his grasp.
The relief of a roof over her head made Grace sigh, she had told Dominic she needed a warm shower; her light shivers convinced him to let her go. Now she stood in front of her bathroom mirror, she had come so far since the first day she met him, yet she still had so far to go. There were things she needed to know, things she needed to do… Things she needed to make right. Once again her father was out late, he never came home before midnight these days and it was only 9.30pm; it was still early. She stood in front of her mirror studying her own slender body, the scars on her wrists stood out a pale pink against her white skin; her hair fell over her shoulders emphasizing her baby blue eyes, she wasn’t beautiful but to Dominic, beauty was all he saw. She stifled a sob and thought of all the things she had said to her father as she sat beside her dying, she had watched as his heart broke into little pieces as he stood by his wife’s fading body; she was determined to blame him for the accident, it was all his fault and she was going to let him know exactly how she felt. And she had done exactly that, everyday since the accident she had spoken to him with as much maliciousness in her voice as possible; she had shown him everyday just how much she blamed him for the brutal death of her beautiful mother. She studied her figured, she had her mother’s body, her eyes, her hair; her mother was exquisite; yet Grace struggled to find any comparison between the very woman that gave birth to her other than her physical features. Her mother was a strong woman, capable of remaining calm in the most stressful situation; yet Grace had shed more tears in the last couple of days than her mother ever had in her entire life. A tear fell from her eye and more sobs erupted from her mouth; her stomach churned and her skin trembled with sorrow, she missed her mother so much and the only person that made her happy again was an angel… how was she going to cope with that? There was a soft knock at the door, Grace quickly wrapped the towel around her and unlocked the bolt; and he was standing there, her guardian angel was standing in her bathroom doorway. “Are you ok?” His cheeks actually flushed pink at the sight of her still wet body, “You look like you’ve been crying…” Dominic took a step toward her and his heart pounded when she didn’t move away.
“I’m fine; I’ve just been reminiscing is all.” Grace forced a smile on her face and turned back to the mirror; her entire skin had heated up now so her scars showed very little. A tear fell down her cheek and a sob escaped her clenched teeth; Dominic took a stance behind her and ran his hands down her arms, his fingers lingering over the ridged bumps on her wrist. “It was never your fault, you did nothing wrong my sweet. You have to stop punishing yourself, otherwise I’m going to be forced to guard you for the rest of you life.” He watched a smile spread across her face in the mirror. Dominic nuzzled and kissed her neck wrapping his arms around her waist; she sighed and nearly collapsed under his soft touch but he held up her frail body, a moan escaped her lips and she wrapped her arms around his neck. Dominic pulled the corner of the towel and let the material fall from her pale body, the beauty of her made him gasp and his breath caught in his throat; she was his, she stood before him in naked beauty and she was giving herself to him, not only her body but her heart.
“Come my sweet; let me show you how I truly feel about you.” He lifted her slowly into his arms so as not to stun her but she gave no objection. “I love you Dominic, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you… even though something is telling me that’s not going to happen…I want to spend what time I have left with you showing you how much I really do care for you,” Grace kissed him gently and trailed her hand through his dark velvet hair. The walk to her room was short and soon they were enveloped in their own passion.
